Granted Intellectual Property!

Hello Esteemed members!

First I would thank the moderators for approving me.

I have been reading the forum since 2009. Have gained immense knowledge over the years. Tried getting myself in a few times but failed. Thus the communication was only one way.

As for me, I am from Kolkata. I have started working about 1.5-2 years back. I am self-employed.

As for my interest in cars.

I first learned to drive, had a license. Then about 1-2 years later learned to ride a cycle and a bike! Do I need to say more.

We always had a car. First it was a Landmaster, then Omni, Santro, City, Eon and now Zest.

I learned in Omni just before turning legal age to have a license right on attaining the required age!

Though that is not my first drive.
The first drive was the Landmaster in the garage!

Let me narrate briefly:

I remember when I was in class 4, I had the intense urge to drive `just a little`. We have a closed garage in our home. There is an inside access to the garage. I went and sat inside the car. Planned my moves.
The moves were:
a. Press the clutch, check the gear. Must be in neutral.
b. Start the engine.
c. Let it get heated a bit.
d. First will move back a bit then front.
e. Press the clutch `give back gear`.
f. Leave the clutch.
g. Now as I will `press the accelerator it will move slowly back`.

Cant go on any further as I guess you all have identified the mis-step!
The car vibrated vigorously and bang. The garage door was twisted.

We regularly go on highways. I have a few incidents to share. These are not travelogues. I will try and compile a post and share soon.

I will also share our Zest buying and peripheral experiences.

Thank you for reading.

First and foremost, here's wishing you a warm welcome.

Ah well, straight to the point. The Landmaster -which year was yours? Did she still have the OE side valve engine running? The OE headlights were Lucas 700's- Made in England. Our '72 FIAT has a pair of those.

You being in Calcutta, I presume your car was registered WBE something? Incidentally, WBE 1362 is a very *special* 1955/56 Dodge Kingsway- with a family connection. Car in question still survives in Calcutta.

P.S: To the uninitiated, the Hindustan Landmaster was the precursor to the Ambassador. Was in production from 1954 to 1957ish. Pretty rare nowadays.

Re: Granted Intellectual Property!

@Fintail, I am sorry for the late reply.
I am again sorry that I dont know much details about the parts of the car. I was too young. The car was sold quickly in the early 2000s, when the govt. planned to ban cars older than 15 years for the first time. There was a lot of confusion then, if I remember right.

But I can only confirm the registration part. Yes it was WBE.... .

Thank you.

Ha ha ha. welcome to the forum. Your thread reminded me of a mistake i did 15 years ago on my mom's car with near-similar results except it was an open parking and I got away with only a small impression on the bumper from a nearby stone!

PS: Whats the intellectual property reference? Can't get that really.
