Hey you guys!

First of all, belated birthday wishes and many more to come! From the bottom of my heart, awesome work you guys have done all these years and hoping this will continue for many more decades to come.

I am from Chennai, moved to Bangalore a few months ago. Still coming to terms with Bangalore traffic during peak hours! I did my schooling and graduation in Chennai (Sri Sairam Engg College). Working now as a consultant at OFSS (Oracle Financial Software Services)

Growing up we never had a car in our home. I had my cycles - BSA SLR, and then a Rockshox FST (wow it had suspensions!). The first bike I remember was my dad's Bajaj Chetak. It has a distinctive exhaust note which I liked. Stirs memories when I hear one on the road. Then came the Hero Honda CD100SS, in a coffee brown colour. I still remember when dad brought it home. It was all shiny with a garland in front. Went for a short ride - me sandwiched between mom and dad. After the Chetak, it seemed a plush ride! I remember telling him, "Appa it just seems to float!".

There was also a TVS champ which my mom used to have. I would use the pretext of starting it and go round for a spin. I was in 4th std then. It was how my love motorcycles started. I would beg my dad to let me ride the CD100SS, though I had absolutely no idea of the clutch-gear system worked. He would give me a weird look which would progress to one of irritation :D During my 11th Std., my dad had gotten transferred to Bombay and he took the CD100S with him and I finally rode it in the streets of Mumbai. I was by then familiar with geared bikes (learnt riding on my friends' Suzuki Samurai during Alliance Francais classes). We later gave them away as they had gotten quite old.

We then bought an olive green, Maruthi 800. I was not so into cars then. It had those fancy fur-type dashboard which gathered a lot of dust. We sold it after a few years. Dad got me a Hero Honda Glamour (he flat refused a pulsar) around 2009. It was my staple ride, until I bought a used '92 std bullet from my friend. It was and still is, my pride and joy! :thumbs up

I bought a Swift Vxi (Silky Silver) in 2011 and it is the only car I have. It is in chennai now and is being used by my parents. Of course the bullet is with me in Bangalore. Recently bought a TVS Jupiter (red) for my wife.

I am a foodie at heart (vegeterian). My hobbies are reading novels, photography, long drives. I'm rediscovering cycling again the past week by cycling to work in a GMC Denali (of course reducing weight is one of the main motives). It is my uncle's who brought it down from the US when he came here and didn't use it. Was unused for a long time. I brought it with me to Bangalore and thought why not.

Apologies for the slightly long post (got a bit nostalgic). Will definitely see you guys around!

Cheers,
r.K

Welcome to the forum R.K. It surely has been a great upgrade from BSA SLR to the Bullet that you ride now. Would like to hear more about the performance of the 1992 Bullet. You should have already got the Fitness Certificate. Any issues you faced riding a TN registered vehicle so far in Bangalore.

welcome to the forum rk! Wish you a wonderful ride with Team Bhp ahead.

So you are from Sairam?? My cousin is doing his engineering there and I have heard so many dreadful stories about that place. How did you get through 4 years of engineering? :) You certainly must have a strong heart! LOL

jokes aside, welcome to the forum again and looking forward to more posts from you.

Apologies for the late reply!

Thanks MSMILES! I am planning to upgrade further to a Triumph sometime in the near future (fingers crossed). Will pen down my experiences with my bullet sometime soon. Yes I have a fitness certificate, and it is to be renewed in a year. Touch wood I have not faced any issues with a TN vehicle so far. I manage to stay in the center of vehicles when in a signal :)

Thanks man! Hehe Sairam is still in the stone age! But the placements were decent. Not sure how it is now. I can go on and on about the silly rules which they implement thinking, it is for the good of students! But made some good friends there and have many fond memories.

Hi r.K,
Welcome to the forum, (college-)mate!

World is too small, isn't it? I'm also from Sairam - 2005-batch-CSE dept. Which batch/branch were you?

During my days, the college used to be strict. But, I feel it was not as bad as what I hear from the guys these days. One of my relative is doing his 2nd year now and I hear loads of stories from him. Pity these guys. Again, this is not limited to Sairam alone. Almost, all the city-colleges are like this, right?

Hello r.K, Welcome to the Team-Bhp.:)

Your introduction post took me to my earlier days when I used to plead my father to let me ride our Kawasaki Boxer.
Our choice of vehicles is somewhat similar. Just like yours, Hero Honda Glamour was my first bike which we bought in Mar 2008. I still use that beauty for running household errands. Pulsar was my first choice, but my father was not interested in buying me one for some funny reasons. lol:
Later, we bought a Maruti Suzuki Swift. Ours is a VDI though.

Thanks callvvijay (senior :) )! I passed out in 2008, ECE Dept. I agree, many colleges like St. Joeseph, Sathyabama are all like this. This can be a topic for a separate discussion!
