Nice to be on this forum. I am a mechanical engineer by profession.

I was bitten by the auto bug age of 11.My uncle offered the driver seat of his Hillman.( I don’t remember the model).Soon got trained on a Morris Minor.Later on a Fiat Millicento.

My uncle was an automobile engineer and later became RTO.He encouraged me to check the car wiring ,carburetor etc of his cars and bikes. This built up my confidence. I bought my own tools and started doing repair of my own bicycle.

At 15 I started riding Scooters.Soon I was cleaning spark plugs,adjusting cables and setting carburetors. I was gifted some books on auto maintenance and started self learning. At 18 ,I started overhauling scooter engines.

I joined mechanical engineering due to my automobile interest.Soon I was running a garage for bikes in free time. I soon became a specialist for carburetor tuning.My highest achievement was tuning Kinetic Honda scooter to an average of 52 km /l (On road ,tested with 1 L) .The high fuel consumption of KiHo was due to faulty electric choke setting which neither Honda nor Kinetic knew.(Even the Honda work shop manual does not mention about electric choke setting.) .

My engineering college was run by SDM Trust,Dharmashala.In 1988 Shri Veerendre Hegde was searching for a person to organize a motor cycle rally. I have given valuable input to his team and the event was successful and received an appreciation letter from him,preserved tilldate with me.

I started reading Which Bike ? magazine published from UK. I was at Sholavaram daily ,a week before the race.I saw Vijay Mallya sitting on a garden chair overseeing the work on his `Dipy’s Special Formula 1 .In 1986 the first Indian auto magazine started publication and I waited every month anxiously….

In 1996 my article on Fantabulus scooter was published in Auto India.I am sharing a copy of it in this forum.
I have owned and used Vijai Super,BSA GT 50,TVS-eko,Allwyn Pushpak,Bullet G 2,RX 100,KB 100,RX 125 (Jap),KiHo,Ambassador Nova,SS 80,SB 308,Baleno,Zen,Sunny.

My company cars have been Corolla,Grand Vitara,LC 80,PathfinderFortuner.
I have toured 7 states in India by car and bike. My last solo trip was a 1714 km trip completed in 15 hours.From Jubail to Yanbu in Saudi Arabia and got 3 tickets for over speeding.

Hi Rehaan,

You mentioned that you would like to hear more about electric choke setting in Kinetic Honda to achieve good fuel average.

I have written about how to adjust the electric choke and achieve good fuel average of 50 km/l and upwards on Kinetic Honda in this thread (how to tune carburetor). There is no rocket technology involved. It is within the reach of DIY guys and involves no purchase or special tools. It is an at home remedy. For non DIY guys they can direct their mechanic to get done the setting.
