Reintroducing myself...

I have been a member for a while but went off driving for the past few years , preferring instead to take the train to work to save time.

The car ride from Bandra to Chowpatty every day took me 1-1.25 hours every day not including the parking issues.

But for the past week, I have decided to start driving once again.

Theres also been a shift in my car ownership. If I remember correctly , my stable had The Skoda Octavia , 1st-gen Honda City Automatic and the Chevrolet Optra.

Well, the current cars that I have are the following:

2010 VW Jetta 1.6 Petrol
2015 Tata Nano
2004 Chevrolet Optra

I look forward to contributing here more often.

Welcome to the forum your highness!

By Jetta you mean the 1.4 TSI and not the 1.6?

I had the same doubt. I almost thought it might have been the vento 1.6 petrol version maybe.
Turns out, there was actually a jetta with the 1.6 petrol engine. :P

My bad! Once the TSI comes in every thing else is forgotten!

Here is one for example:

Your profile name and the entire re-introduction had me in splits for a moment, your highness.

Maybe it's just me, but i wouldn't be able to forget any of the vehicles i have owned!

Welcome back, all the same.

Happy to have put some laughs in your day

Frankly , the amount of time , money and heartache I spent in maintaining the skoda Octavia , selective memory set in and I have forgotten all about it.

I try and only remember the good times.

Well, we had a Skoda Laura L&K in the family. It drank more money than fuel during the fag end of my ownership of her. I believe the electronics of the early generation skoda were not robust. I was lucky I was able to sell it on time - the gearbox gave up on the new owner after about 6 months! Not so lucky for the new owner. Feel sorry for the guy, but he knew very well what he was getting into.

New age Laura / octavia are far more reliable but less tough than the Ist gen Laura.

Life is Good!

6 months ? Wow , that's better than my buyer.

The engine seized after about a 2 kms of him driving off with the car.

He called me a few days later asking for a refund , but I reminded him that all Sales are final.

The car spent about 6 months in the shop before he was able to drive it again. The skoda phase of my life is something that I prefer to forget.

It was very economical on diesel but the repairs were costing me around Rs. 30k per month.

It kind of put me off diesel cars as well
