A Big Hello to Everyone. Oh Yes, a Bigger Hello to the MODs ;)

About Myself

I'm Abhishek Doon, from Rohtak who's born in Jind, Haryana but brought up all over India (yeah, thanks to Dad) & I'm super glad that I was.
Right from my birth back in 1988, I've been to
1. Joshimath (1990)
2. Arunachal (Hailong to Walong - 1990-1993)
3. Bhutan (HAA - 1993-1995)
4. Srinagar (J&K - 1995-1998)
5. Arunachal (Roing to Anini - 1999-2001)
6. Pune (2001-2004)
7. Mizoram (Aizawl - 2004-2006)

I went to do my Grads from 2006 but my Dad kept getting transferred:

8. Leh (2006-2008)
9. Manali (2008-2010)
10. Tezpur (Assam - 2010-2013)
11. Rishikesh (2013-2016)
12. Gangtok (2016)
13. Kargil (J&K - 2017 to ??)

It's been a hell of a ride almost to all over India & living at places where people dream of going is beyond overwhelming.

Since my upbringing talks about moving cities, so do my schools. I changed 6 schools till 12th standard. That's something right. It was always hard to leave the bonds I built & find myself in a new place & start all over again. Those times didn't even have FB/Whatsapp etc that you'd stay in touch with each other in a jiffy. But still the bond never breaks.

But that perhaps was the best part - meeting new people from various sects/geographical areas & settling along w/ them was a tremendous feeling.

Apart from that, I've roamed all across the length & breath of country & the only left out place is LAKSHADWEEP & I plan to do it by 2019.

I'm a graduate in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal.

What Do I Do?

Well we all need to earn our bread & butter no? My source of BnB has been pretty straightforward, more or less.

I got placed in Infy & IBM. Joined the latter in July 2010. After my brief training as an Application Developer in Java, I was moved to Kolkata for my project location. No hard feelings but I just hate that place.
I was put up in Salt lake & it just didn't work for me.

So I was anyway prepping up for IES & it helped my technical some bit & I was able to break Off Campus Interview for Jio (Rancore Technologies - A R&D Div for Jio). Back in the days it went by the name of Rancore as there was no Jio.
So I joined RANCORE (Which stands for Radio Access Network & CORE) on 2nd May 2011 & since then I'm an integral part of Jio put up at Navi Mumbai.
I'm a pure technical guy & work for the 4G & 5G EPC (Evolved Packet Core).

My Love for Driving/Cars?

AFAIK, I was 4years old when my dad was posted in the remotest location in Arunachal Pradesh & he had this official Jonga & Willy Jeep.
He had this driver named "Khan" & it all started with my craving to just drive & drive.
I used to sit on his lap & hold the steering & drive a round or so (Yes, I did that when I was 4!) before & after my Dad would go to & come from office.

I guess it was in my blood to DRIVE!!!lol:

I had like so many toy cars/trucks/JCBs/Dozers [Well seeing what I did all my life growing up - thanks to my dad's job, I had some heavy collection rather than the hotwheels - But yes, I had my own hotwheel collection too :D] back in the days & my mom would embarass me telling her friends or some guests whenever they would come to home that i would just lie on the ground & play with the cars observing every details - So as to how & where are the wheels are going, how much to turn, taking those offorading expedetions in the kitchen garden.

I just loved every aspect of driving so very much!

I've seen almost every terrain in this country, wherein I'm airlifted - Roads blocked due to landslide - walking in knee deep slush - vehicles in ferrys over Brahmaputra - Vehicles crossing the river by themselves in the Lohit Valley (Arunachal) & What not.

All of this did excite me to some new level.
My dad being a Civil Engineer & a responsible driver himself, it just justifies it all rather nicely.

Finally TBHPian!

I was rejected in my first attempt. My answers were to the point & brief. I was disheartened.

I looked over them again & I was like what did I miss? "Nothing ", came the reply. I pondered over it for a couple & days & then took to writing all the answers again. But this time I made sure:
> I captured the emotion & zeal while logic wasn't forgotten
> My answers weren't like every other guy out there. To be a worthy TBHPian, you have to make sure you know your thing.
> Put my heart & love for Cars/Drives/Power/Discipline

ANDDDD Lo Behold! I was through in my second attempt.

I couldn't me any more glad than this.

But as they say, "With great power, comes Great Responsibility" - The power of being a TBHPian. I'm someone, I belong to a community which is second to none & commands respect & I need to bear the responsibility & ensure I do justice to my Rank.

I hope I will contribute in the most constructive way in this community & help take it to new heights.

CHEERS!!!

Deja Vu ! I got placed in IBM in June 2006 and was posted in Kolkata and I lived in Salt Lake too. Being in Kolkata bang in the middle of the soccer world cup was quite an experience but before the humidity could freak me out, got transferred back to Delhi. It was a good 15-20 days there though.

Nice to have welcomed by an ex-IBMer stationed at Kolkata who apparently happens to be a Telco Guy.

Thanks Aditya.

I can relate a bit. Have experienced schooling in different parts of India as well, albeit for a short span of 4 years, before ending up in Navi Mumbai. Though, have been through 5 different schools till my 10th! And surprisingly, I am still in touch with some of my friends from these schools.

Wow! That must be quite an experience. Do pen it down if possible. I'm sure many of us here would be interested on your perspective on the different places, people, cultures and food etc.

Great! Good to know that we share the same background to some extent.
Oh yes, even I'm in touch with them. It really feels great, doesn't it :)

Definitely! I've been trying to search relevant threads to post such experiences but so far haven't come across any. It would be great if you can guide me in the right direction.

Welcome to the Forum, Abhishek Doon! :)

It's nice to see someone who's covered a significant bit of the country. Hope to "catch" you sometime soon in these areas sometime. :D

Good luck for the Lakshadweep plan.

Cheers!

Welcome aboard Abhishek. Nice to have someone from so close to my hometown. I live in delhi but my hometown is Beri and it is very close to Rohtak. Hope to see you when I visit Rohtak next time.
