Introducing myself to the team

Hi everyone,

I am an Army Veteran and 60 years old. So I started with Lambretta and graduated to Bullet 350 way back in 1983. So had the opportunity to handle vehicles like Nissan Jonga, Nissan 1 Ton and Shaktiman. My first car was Premier Padmani, and later on had the opportunity of owning Maruti 800, Zen, Indica, Tata Safari, I10, Carolla Altis, and Toyota Innova. At present, I have Jazz AT and Jeep Compass Petrol MT.

Driven around quite a few places and had the opportunity of seeing remote parts of the country but still, there is much to explore and it is great to read about the experiences of so many people on this site.

Looking forward to interacting with all .

re: Introducing myself to the team

Welcome to the forum. Jonga and Shaktiman are quite exotic!!!!

Being in a similar age bracket I too started my life with a pre-owned Lamby. Incidentally the previous owner was an Army Major and so the scooter had a J&K registration which I never changed.

Look forward to your posts.

Thanks, Narayan.
What a coincidence I am from Jammu though now settled in Gurgaon and my first was a Lamby which was owned by my father way back in 1978.

Hello Amit Sir,

My father and uncle also bought bullet in 1983 and we still have one with us. Happy to have you with us. Looking forward to more contributions from you.

Welcome a fauji to the 60's Club.
Shaktiman what a engine tech it had, could be run on any type of fuel, especially made for the army.
Your Jonga and Shaktiman experience would be an interesting read.
Enjoy your stay here.

Re: Introducing myself to the team

Thanks Vinod and Sangwan,
Apologies for late response.
Well All these army vehicles were fun to drive and their off road capabilities, I doubt any present vehicle can match.
The poor QC of ordinance factory made them problem to maintain. The failure rate was very high and that led to some nasty accidents .
More about experience some other times
Regards
Amit
