Tathagata with a crush on Wagon-R (not the newly launched model)

Hi,

I am Tathagata from kolkata. A system administrator by profession, owner of a 2001 make Wagon-R Vxi, a driving enthusiast and an amature music lover I love to often go out on long drives with my car to places like durgapur, digha, jhargram etc. if I get those leaves from office. My car though aged now complements perfectly with this passion of mine and till now has never given me any problem on all those long drives. Otherwise I am mostly driving within the city for my office work or at the most go to Salt Lake where my organization has their production unit.

I am very passionate about my car too - a 1st. generation Wagon-R Vxi model and I also run a Wagon=R community on Orkut out of this passion. I am here to know more on how I can improve on my driving skills, my car's performance, to do basic maintanance of my car and things like that. Also I would be looking for a second car though I have no intentions to sell off my current old lady.

With so many experienced members around I think that I will have some good learning experience from this forum.

Welcome aboard Tathagata! Where in Salt Lake is your company based? I am in Sector 5, as are a lot of the other guys.
We have a kolkata team bhp google group, which you could join if you're interested. PM me if you are.

Hi Tathagata
Welcome from another fellow Kolkatan. I like your passion for your vehicle. But I read in Auto India (cover story) that they are planning to change the Wagon R next year. Sad but true. Maruti is very poor with revamping an existing successful model. I used to love my Zen the way you love your WagonR. But it's gone now.
Since you travel long distance, go for a set of tube-less radials, as a first step. It's a very basic safety measure that all cars should have, particularly when driven fast on the new highways.
Regards
Sudipto

Hi Razor,

My office in Salt Lake is behind Mani Kanchan and opp. to C. R. P. F. Camp. Let me know the group for kolkata team bhp.

Sudipto,

I totally agree to you on the legacy of MUL making silly cosmetic upgradations to their successful models. Zen Estilo is really the best example if not new Wagon-R. Lets' wait & watch what is in store.

Dear Mr. Roy,

We would look forward to your visit.

so tathagata, do you all stock wheels and tires or have you upgraded it. As some of our forum wagon -r'ers had done some excellent upgrades on their cars and it does look great. Happy Bhping
