Introducing myself!

Hello Everybody and thank you team BHP for having me as a member. Much obliged!

I am nervous about posting this as there are many rules and am not sure if I was supposed to post a new thread for introduction or just reply to something. So my apologies if I have violated any policies due to my lack of knowledge about forums.

I am a 36 y/o man from Pune who has been an avid automobile reader for quite sometime now. The internet wasn't much helpful during my days as a boy so my mum would buy us (me and by brother) Autocar and such magazines which were expensive but fully satisfying to our curious minds. Oh how we waited for a new issue to come up. Nevertheless gone are the old days and youtube is the everything of everything now. So I consider myself a kid when it comes to curiousity and learnings but the age is not just a number so there comes the matured part I suppose, hence the name.

I started my automobile journey by riding my uncle s humble "TvS Luna" at the age of about 8 (not legal but times were different) then came the age of scooty followed by scooty ES. ES felt like a super future tech back then. Also did many kilometres on a Bajaj super and to this day the engine kill switch of it remains my favourite. Again spent years riding my uncle's Suzuki Max 100 until I got my very own first bike TVS fiero fx with all its shimmering chrome which I hardly rode for a few years and crashed 5-6 times (also lost an ACL of my knee to that bike). Moved to TVS apache 150 for the next few years, then the Bajaj Pulsar 180 which I had to beg my father for as he was insistent on tvs bikes. When I joined into jobs at the age 23 I bought my very own Honda CBR 250 In 2012. The pulsar and the CBR are with me to this day and happy to say are in mint condition as I loved both these bikes. Not to forget my dad's scooty Pep which was my occassional weapon of choice for short trips around the neighbourhood and when I felt like singing kishor Kumar or mohd rafi.

As for the car journey the first one I drove for few years was a Toyota Qualis which was soon replaced by Chevrolet Aveo Uva in 2012. The Uva I drove for a straight 12 years until now. Tinkered a lot myself as it came with its own set of problems but it served my family as a humble servant who was loyal. Sure I had to spend a bomb to keep it in shape but it was time to let the old member rest now so I recently bought a new dream.

I have longer for a Nitro RC monster truck for a good 15+ years now and never dared to buy one myself, so naturally when it came to buying a new car it had to be a monster truck with 4x4 (this is the kid part of the matured kid). No guesses needed my favourite was the Ford endeavour but unfortunately Ford chose to stick it in my face and exited Indian market. The fortuner did not fit my budget or rather I didn't like it as much as I loved the endeavour so that left me with a few options. I chose the Scorpio N and within a week I was driving around my childhood dream.. an SUV with 4x4 . That should justify my chosen name for this forum.

As to what I do to keep the tyres on my suv, I am a glorified accountant with an MNC. Spend my time mostly with my family, love fishkeeping and am learning woodworking. As with most guys, I love my power tools and keep adding one every year so I have quite the set. I hope to keep learning from this forum and it's experience. Thank you!

Re: Introducing myself!

Hi TheMaturedKid, welcome to Team-BHP!

Oh the old TVS Scooty! I remember one of my neighbours had it back in the day. As a kid, I used to find excuses to talk to that bhaiya and get a ride on his Scooty. It was fantastic! Then someone in our society bought a Kinetic Blaze and I went bonkers on that

I also had to play tricks (well, at least I thought I was being smart) with my dad to bring a Bajaj Pulsar 150 DTSi home. It was a copper-gold (orange) colour with silver alloy wheels. I simply adored its two analogue dials.

I'm glad to hear that you still have the Pulsar and CBR in mint condition. They are amongst the best motorcycles of their time. One of my friends has also kept his CBR well-maintained and even though he doesn't ride it often, he isn't ready to sell it.

That's my Continental GT and his CBR.

We'd love to hear more about your hobbies and, of course, about your brand-new Scorpio N. Congratulations on that!

Cheers,
