Hi BHPians,

I am Shrivatsa based out from Bangalore. I am in my mid 30s and work in the IT domain from 12 years(and yeah same organization from beginning of my career). Although I work in building the software, my heart always roams around the automobiles :Cheering:

I own 2 cars namely Ford Figo(2014, petrol, manual) and Ford Ecosport(2018, Diesel, manual, Pre-owned). Although I had a chance to own non ford cars while buying my Ecosport, somehow I could not make connection with other cars in the segment. I also own a 2 wheeler (Honda Unicorn, 2012) to tackle the Bangalore traffic and enjoy riding this small 150CC engine in both city(daily commute) and highways(short weekend rides).

My Ecosport has seen some modifications such as Cruise control, Reverse parking camera, Dashcams etc). I would love to wash/maintain my automobiles and work minor DIY's. I would love to capture photos and create memories out of it.

I got to know about TBHP from a colleague in 2013 and been a consistent visitor here almost everyday. I am happy to be part of this forum after multiple failed attempts :loveit . Looking forward to have active participation in this forum in the years to come.

Hello Shrivatsa,

Both very good Ford cars! Loved the old Figo as it felt very much like a go-kart. How's the car in terms of reliability? I remember seeing some ignition coil issues, but otherwise seems pretty reliable.

Totally agree with the EcoSport Diesel. The car feels very connected and you can truly enjoy your drive. Also, the car just loves munching miles.

Would love to read about your experiences with the cars.

A warm welcome to the forum! Do check out Team-BHP Rules of posting as well.

My experience with ford Figo over the last 9-10 years(50K kms on the odo) is great(touch wood). All the services are carried out in FASS on a timely manner. Totally agree with you on the go cart feeling you mentioned. It feels nimble and stable on high speeds due to the excellent classy and suspension setup. The only concern is the low fuel economy(Duratec engine being a petrol). Below are the issues I have faced so far.
  1. ABS sensors: It stopped working randomly after 5 years displaying the error code on the console. Initially I have replaced one sensor to resolve the issue. But after couple of months one more sensor stopped working. Looking at this, I had replaced all 4 sensors at once as per the suggestion by Ford technicians. The issue came up after 6 months and upon clearing the error code(through forescan), the issue is resolved permanently.
  2. Rust: After 6 years of ownership, rusting is seen on all the 4 doors. The FASS rejected the goodwill warranty blaming our maintenance pattern. Post to that, I personally removed the rust and gave a paint touch up as a temporary fix. But same issue is popping up again. Currently looking for a reliable bodyshop around bangalore for fixing it.
  3. Steering column: I could feel a small vibration in the bad roads occasionally. Upon detailed inspection, FASS informed us to change the steering column which would cost INR 15-18K or make piece with the occasional vibration as this will not compromise on the safety. I choose the latter option and happy with the same

Coming to Ford Ecosport, no words to explain the feel we get in the driving seat :Cheering:. I have bought it preowned immediately after ford announced exit from India.

I will pen down all my experiences on the Figo and Ecosport in a separate post.
