Hello. I bought a car through Team-BHP!!

Hi all,

I was going through the market place on Team-BHP at around 10 pm a few days back.I saw an ad saying Fiat Siena for sale, 1.6 elx 2001 model.

There was the phone number of the seller. Instantly I sent an sms to the seller asking the rate. Reply = 1.75 lakhs.

Reply: way higher. please rethink.

Seller: will consider 1.70

Reply: will make 1.50

Seller: 1.60

Seller: done.

Reply: thanks, pls sms bank details.

Seller: HSBC account ----- name:--------- location : kerala----

My reply: thanks will deposit tomorrow morning.

All this lasted exactly 6 minutes. no verbal communication. Next day: 10.30 am: Deposited 1.55 lakh cheque to the account and emailed the bank challan.
By 12 my driver left to kerala to pick up the car.
By 7.00 pm car was given to driver after performing a pooja at a temple.
Next day by 10 am car reached my home.
Absolutely in mint condition, enjoying every bit.
Selling my Wagonr now to buy one more Fiat Siena or a weekend.
All thanks to Team-BHP

Goodness that was a fast transaction and a big deal! Enjoy your car and let us see some pictures. Don't opt for one more Siena, instead look at the Weekend or the Adventure.

You bought the car without test driving it.

Hey man, that was scary.
For you:
1. What if the ad was fake?
2. What if the car was badly battered one?
3. What if the papers were not there?
For him:
1. What if the cheque bounces?
Hope it ended well.

goes to prove that TBHP works more on conscience and like-minded thinkers than commerce,... even in the age of techno cheats.

hope we all share the same spirit and maintain the confidence levels for long time to come. kudos to TBHP.

@nutmello: enjoy ur car.

I echo similar concerns as diabloo, but alls well that ends well, isnt it? LOL Man that has got to be the simplest car purchase experience I have heard of. Congratulations on your car and we are glad we could help you find it.

Welcome to the team, nutmello.

Its good to know that it worked out well for you but to someone considering to do a similar deal, I would advice caution. Not everyone can be trusted. So its always better to verify and proceed.

Not advisable to do it the way you are saying, this is a big pitfall unless you want to throw your money away.

What prevents somebody from fishing here on team bhp and denting its credibility. Moderators advise team bhp membersto not to get into deals like this in such a way before seeing the person and the car.

Whoa! And there starts another story. Balechaparka... is this one again going to be an encore of nutmello's transaction? And then maybe you can all relive it over a cup of tea.

EDIT: But nutmello, gotta admit one thing mate. You are a nut!

yep.. the idea of making such a purchase sounds scary. No test drive, no idea about the user. perhaps if the user has been on the forum for sometime and a history of post making the seller trustable makes some sense. but still that doesnt give any idea about the state of the car.

But then like GTO stays all's well with what end well.
Though that should not give you any reason to trust the internet more. Cheers

Hello nutmello! Welcome to Team-BHP. You were just lucky not to get yourself involved in a cheat case like, owner was not trustful et whatever written above. Be careful. Think twice and do it.

Do upload pictures of your ride!

Hey!!! All you guys shouting yourselves hoarse about credibility, please remember one thing - there is something on the screen on your left hand side as you read this - it is my nick, the number of posts I made, number of threads I started, etc, and on the page about me, the facility to check my credentials - the car(s) I own, the way I drive, how long I drive, the technical problems (even accidents) I have faced, etc.

A fake or a fraudster will stick out like a sore thumb.

And if you guys are not aware, In the Mumbai Money market, all out banks - nationalised or otherwise - borrow from each other to maintain what the RBI calls the CRR. Hard cash in suitcases is transferred, merely on the basis of phone calls - on phones without even a CLI.
