Introducing myself

Dear Team-BHP'ians:

I am from a small town in Erode district, Tamilnadu. I am now 54 years old. I am working as manager in a car workshop. I am a diploma holder in mechanical engineering with automobile engineering as my elective subject. I started my career as a junior training officer in a private industrial training institute in 1989. I also completed my Apprenticeship training in 1993 at Government Automobile Workshop, Kanyakumari district in Tamilnadu.

From my childhood itself, I was dreaming to own a Jawa bike, which I was able to own it at 25 years (after getting appointed as instructor in a private Polytechnic College), before which driving an Avanti autogear (first of its kind) moped at 19 years.

In Avanti moped itself, I used to travel around 200 km from my hometown to Trichy, Salem, and Nilgiris when some critical situations happened. After buying Jawa bike, touring long distances became a habit, as I hated bus travel. Once petrol price started to rise, I bought Bajaj Boxer CT 100 in 2002 and travelled almost all over Tamilnadu with my friends. Meanwhile I obtained my LMV and Heavy vehicle license also in 1995.

After getting married in 2002, I used to drive cars of my friends, my first being Ambassador and later on Fiat, Maruti 800, Santro. In 2009, I bought a Maruti Omni with my friend jointly and many trips within Tamilnadu and nearby states of Kerala, Karnataka, Andhrapradesh, and Pondicherry which were all memorable fun rides.

In 2020, I bought a Maruti Suzuki Dzire LXI as a second-hand car and this still suits me as a good one ( gives around 18.5 km during long drive).

In September 2024, I bought River Indie EV scooter (First Gen Belt Drive) in addition to my existing Honda Unicorn 2008 model, which I bought as second-hand in 2015.

I am now more interested in electric vehicles and wish to get updated from Team-BHP'ians. I also wish to share my thoughts regarding the same.

To be honest, I have been an avid reader of Team-BHP for the past 1 year, and since buying River Indie SUV, I have read most of the information. In the following days, will be posting my personal experiences with my fun rides on River Indie in the past 5 months, the likes and dislikes of this SUV.

It is good that you followed your passion and stuck to what you studied. That, and your experience with a variety of four and two wheelers, gives you enough bandwidth to engage yourself and fellow members in interesting discussions.
