hallo people,
i'm achaiah from coorg. currently doing my mechanical engineering in mysore.
interestingly i'm a big fan of cycling but before you decide that i dont belong here, just so that u know i love anything with engines on them.
we have a 10 yr old 800 and recently with one of my friends, we did up a mahindra MM540(87'). got a simpsons s4 engine fitted onto her, and now i'm practically in love with jeeps.
i heard about this forum from a friend(the same guy who was a big help with the jeep). got still lots more to learn and from what i see on this forum, thats not going to be a problem.
anyway i'm looking forward to being a part of this community

Welcome to a fellow Jeep lover. Where did you source the S4 engine? How was the match? Would love to see detailed pictures.

thanks for the warm welcome. I realised you were a jeep lover (GTO)when i saw your profile picture.
anyway about the simpsons engine, since there are a lot of mahindra mini vans(model- fj460) my garage guy suggested that would be a good choice because it was a cheap DI engine(no heating required,and it starts with almost nice effort).we got the engine in the mysore gujri for 17k and i got 5k for the original XDP engine. it fits perfectly onto the mahindra gearbox, but the crown pinion ratio had to be changed. the original was a 44/9(or 47) we needed to get a 11/47 which is what the mini van uses. the engine is not really fast(tops at around 80)but we normally load up our jeep to maximum capacity, hence this engine..
