Off Road KArt .. KVX1

The KVX1 is an off road kart, designed and built by me in my garage.
This was when I was in my First year of Engineering.

  • The kart runs on a Variomatic kinetic Engine
  • Chain Driven
  • rear shock absorbers -- altered Mc Pherson Struts ,
  • fron -- Altered Schooter Shocks,
  • Steering Mechanism - direct link as in Go karts (Cause i ran outta funds)
  • tops 50 kmph .

Note from Moderator - Please make sure the images you post are of a low filesize in the future. Ive taken care of it this time.

Hey Pepper,

Welcome aboard pal.
That is an awesome machine you have constructed!
How much did it weigh though?

Are you currently working on any new projects...? Would love to know about them if you are.

Pepper!! Congratulations on this achievement. How about a report on the design and building experiences? Do you still have it, and does it do any off-roading?

Report on the KV-X1

Hey guys ,
Thanx for ur support
Heres da Report ..

The KV-X1- Karthik.V eXperimental prototype 1, was designed and built in my garage.

The KV-X1 is powered by a ported and polished 100cc, 7bhp Kinetic engine. The engine is mated to a samurai sprocket by a chain that drives the rear wheels through altered Bajaj Auto’s drive shaft as seen in the picture. The shock absorbing at the rear is provided by altered Mac Pherson struts and the front by Scooter shocks through a single wishbone and lower arm mechanism as seen in the pictures. The steering is done by a direct link as in normal Go-Karts. The frame is made from 18,16 &14 gauge sections. The kart is fitted with an Auto’s hydraulic rear break system. The driver position is comfortable and is cushioned by a Maruti Van's driver seat. The pedals are altered Auto’s break pedals. The Kart tops at 50km/hr off road and handles quite well.

The KV-X1 started out as a project for a college fest ‘Technoutsav’ when I was in the 1st year . It took 5-6 months on and off to complete the kart. The kart was completed November 2003.

Khivraj Motors sponsored the Bajaj Auto’s parts and the rest of the overhead expenditure was borne by us. The overall expenditure came up to Rs.20000.

I am currently working on another project that I will soon send an update.(A compressed air powered Car)

I am pursuing a career in automobile Design. The KV-X1 is just the beginning.

Check out my other works on "Shifting gears"

Keep Kool

Hi Pepper,

A compressed air powered car? that sounds interesting.... will it be just to experiment or do you see it as a viable alternative for an energy source ??

What is the turbine going to be like? sounds very interesting as a concept...... how far along have you come with the plans?
