Welcome my friend .

And which part of Wayanad are you from ? My roots stretch to Wayanad and my relatives live in a place called Kolavayal(near Muttil).

Welcome Vinod, this is from one villager to another.

I too grew up in small towns/villages until Highschool, and now I am again back in a village. It was nice to hear your life story in a nut shell.

Wow! Now there's someone I can call 'experienced'.
Quite an effort,I must say. Hats off to you,Vinod.
I've only had a chance to pass by Waynad numerous times, though I'd love to stay a while when time permits. As Steer said, there are tonnes of people who'd be ready to give up everything and live in a place like that. Its not the money/amenities, but the simple and worthwhile life that people in such places have.

Welcome aboard, and enjoy your stay here.

And what is stopping them?

Village life is not easy, especially after living in cities. By romanticizing village life, we are making light of the hardships Vinod has underwent. Vacationing in villages is one thing, but living there is something else.

Although my residence/office is technically in a village, it is right next a tiny but modern town, so I don't feel the pinch of village life too much. But I have tasted real village life as a kid, it is scary when I remember the school or medical facilities.

Truly agree to what Samurai has mentioned here. Village life seems inviting, but once you decide this is it, you feel otherwise.
