Hi This John from Bangkok

Hi all,

This is John. I was born in City of Angels (Bangkok) in summer of 1975. My cuurent assignment required me to to come to this beautiful country for next five years. I landed in Delhi on Aug 16 2008. At preaent I am staying in Gurgaon with office in Saket, New Delhi. As you know there is no reliable public transport system between sub urb and Capital. I realised we as a family need a car. So we were out in market with on road budget of 5.5 lakh INR. Being a Diesel head and long travel distance we decided to buy a diesel car, and following cars were short listed.

1. Vista Quadrajet
2. Ikon TDCi
3. Fusion TDCi (bit off budget)
4. Swift DDis

I almost booked Fusion but at this forum I read it will be discontinued soon and same can be the case with Ikon. That left me with swift and Vista. Long waiting period and lack of equipment (Bells and Wistles) went against swift and we decided to book Vista after taking feedback from Team BHP forums. On January 1st 2009 Artic Silver Vista Quadrajet aura was delivered to us with a box of Indian Sweets and Bunch of Flowers for my wife (Nice Gesture - We dont get this treatment back in Thailand). So far so good we are happy with the car. will try and post some pics soon. Since then I have added Alloys, Remote locking and Reverse sensors from Reliance auto zone and have stumbled on a quite interesting Stats:

that is

Less than 50000 Thais own an Merc
Less than 40000 Thais own an BMW
Less than 30000 Thais own an Audi
Less than 20000 Thais own an Jaguar
Less than 10000 Thais own an Porsche
Less than 5000 Thais own an Rolls Royce
and
Only (Probably) one Thai own an Tata Vista thats me

Try and post some pics soon

Belt up and Drive Safe

John

Welcome to T-BHP, John!

And also welcome to India!

That is a nice way to introduce oneself and one's ride! First I mistook that you might have posted under the wrong section, but reading further, realized it is also part of your intro.

Happy motoring!

Welcome John. For someone who is new to the Indian car scene, you sure made a smart choice *pats Team-BHP on the back*! That Fiat engine + gearbox is a fitting combo for the latest Tata.

Do stop by our board rules too for a quick look. I hope you enjoy your stay in our fascinating country.

Great to have you in India John. Hope you find this country as wonderful as Thailand. That's a smart choice you made with the Indica Vista. Tatas are workhorses and easy to live with and the new Vista is a big leap forward from the earlier Indicas. They are cheap to live with too. That Quadrajet engine is a gem. Hope to see a running report of your car in the reviews section along with pictures of your new machine. Do take a detour to the rules as well.

Welcome to Team BHP.
