New Hello from Dubai
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/introduce-yourself/53587-new-hello-dubai.html)
Hello Guys!
I am Ram Nair, from Trivandrum, currently resident in Dubai.
For the past 50 years Cars and Bikes have been my passion. My first love being my dad's 1960 Royal Enfield Villiers. Rigt from the age of 2 I always used to perch on that whenever it was at home. 2nd being the 1958 Landmaster of my Granpa.
Learnt riding cycle at 6 and started balancing on a bike as soon as I was tall enough to touch the ground from the seat of a bike (I think I was 12). Fortunately for me and unfortunately for my dad and grand pa, my house in TVM had a fairly long sloping drive way. I always would push my dads bike (with help of the house boy) up the slop and then free wheel down. Ditto with cars. My grand pa would park the car at the top of the slope and call me out so that I could free wheel down the slope till the garage. By then he had 69 Amby Mark II.
My dad had 68 Standard Herald 2 D model, what a beuty it was. With the Registration No. of KLV 33 it was an instantly locatable car. It had almost a fully "Made in England" engine.
My first vehicle was 1979 Yezdi. Bought for a Royal Sum of Rs 4,000.00 after getting in the Army quota etc. I had that with me till I graduated to Roadking in 1982.
In 1982 by the perks of my job, I was able to buy my first new car Amby Mark IV. had it till 1988 and then went in for a new Padmini Deluxe (Maruti never facinated me as I felt the 800 cc engine was for girls. The Premier was set up with polishe ports, cams 7 the works plus a twin Webber Carburettors. It could easily touch over 120 KMPH in the highways. The floorshift was so positive I still miss that car.
In 1984 I traded my Roadking for 2nd hand Rajdoot 350 (HT). Eversince I am a RD350 man.
In 1985 I bought a new Rajdoot 350 LT. Ex showroom in TVM it was Rs 42,000.00. She is my first wife and is still with me (though living separately since 1993). She is in my home in TVM (hibernating in the Drivers Quarters) and I am in Dubai. Now we live together only for a month in an year. But that is enough to keep me longing for her for ever.
I Dubai I currently have a Nissan X Trail and a Land Cruiser. I still have not decided what bike I should buy, but regularly ride rental bikes of various makes.
Hope to be around a lot. Interested in classic bike & car scene. Also would like to help out guys with maintaining RD 350.
Best Regards, Ride & Drive Safely.
Ram
Hi Ram
Welcome to Team BHP.
Would you have the twin webers and the manifold for the Padmini still with you? I have a '54 model that does 120-130 kmph without any mods, would be interested to see what the twin carbs do to the baby.
Welcome aboard,Ram.
Good to see an RD350 enthusiast! There are quite a few here on TBHP.
Are you looking at getting yourself a cruiser, or more of a touring-sportsbike?
Take care, and drive safe!
:thumbs up
RD350 :D
Nice. And welcome. Just dont tell me that you are in the aviation business. If so, its a small world. Else, forget I even mentioned this.

Not sure if you are already on the list but if not, and you would like to join us, do send me a PM. Will let you know the details.

Wheeler, the 20th Feb trip is out for me as I am currently in the process of changing my job (no I am not in Property Business and my line is so far OK).
Thanks and Regards
Ram
