Hello, My name is John!

Hello!

I've been lurking here for a while, and made a few posts, so I thought it was about time that I introduced myself.

My name is John, I live in the Nilgiris near Masinagudi, am married with three children (all of whom live in the UK), and I'm a retired web site producer.

My businesses have been many and varied, from import/export (working in china and Hong Kong) to telecommunications (supplying wireless broadband in rural areas), as well as a long spell in the music business and web site production. Although I retired when I was in my 40's, I still produce web sites as a sideline.

I have owned and driven many cars over the last few decades including BMW, Mercedes Benz, Bentley, Range Rover and Audi.

I love old cars, but now only have one - a 1966 MG Midget (two-seater sports car) which is being restored by a motor engineer in Ooty.

My current vehicles are the Scorpio mHawk Vlx 2.2 and the Royal Enfield Machismo 500cc LB.

I'm looking for a 4X4 Jeep to make up the full set!

I will catalogue the restoration of my MG, which I imported from UK. This is a very rare vehicle here in India and I'm looking forward to joining a few car clubs and touring with other car enthusiasts, as well as taking it for day trips with a picnic on board!

My MG Midget - built in 1966

Welcome to the forum John. You live in one of my most favourite locations.

Do ping me if you pass by Mangalore anytime. We can find some time to visit the car museum in Dharmasthala. They have an unbelievable collection of old beauties there.

Hey,

Welcome aboard John.

Finally cool to meet someone who stayed in Hong Kong. So where exactly did you reside over here, and which cars did you own?

While the boy racers raced through the tunnel to Aberdeen in their Porches, Maseratis, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, I was the guy in the taxi!

The MTR, Star Ferries and taxis were my only form of transport, but at least I didn't need to spend hours trying to find a parking spot!

I have started a separate thread for meet ups in Ooty. I have got a few replies. We could also consider a joint meet from Bangalore and Mysore in Ooty, reason being there are only a few members from the Nilgiris.
Cheers,
