Hi all,
A proud Team-BHP member since yesterday, but an avid reader since a couple of years I guess, I couldn’t wait to introduce myself.
I am a marketing and web specialist and manage a team of web designers and producers for a US based data storage solutions company. I have been in these fields for a little over 18 years now. I live in Bangalore (since I was born 40 years ago) with my wife and two cars.
I reached this website when I was looking to upgrade from my tried and tested M800 (5 speed) MPFI. Read through many websites carrying reviews, comments and advise, but just could not get a satisfactory answer to what I was looking for then - 'Do I go for a sedan or hatchback? A new car or a pre-owned?'.
And then I reached Team-BHP, and with the kind of content I read up here, I went ahead and purchased a pre-owned Maruti Esteem VXi within a few days. I had all the information I needed to take a quick decision. The advise on the forums on buying pre-owned vehicles and the details on mandatory checks were invaluable in my decision making process.
The Esteem has given me trouble free performance over the years and it is a pleasure to be in it. She now has League alloys with Bridgestones (no I didn’t upsize, but went for tubeless). Many long drives later, she still beckons me and the wife for another long run. The three of us have seen most of Southern India and Goa and have seen some places multiple times, all for the love of driving. She has stock ICE and stock everything else, really doesn't require any mods I'd say, she is still as superb as she was created. I would say Team-BHP has helped in keeping her that way.
When she carried us to Goa during the New Year of 2008, she showed us how safe it feels to be moving horizontally (forward always) at 140 Kms/hr. And in the city, she purrs along gently, oblivious to the mayhem on the roads outside,
except when she feels the urge to surge ahead. A great piece of machinery tailor made for Indian roads.
My Esteem's little sister is my Zen LXi. Again a decision taken based on hours of reading at team-bhp, she is our in-city travel companion and my wife's ride to office. I haven’t driven the Zen much so I don't have much to talk about. Many have told me that it is the best engineered 'Made in India' car in that segment. I could never refute that.
I plan to go for an addition to my family, and I am now at the decision making spot now. A decision between the Cedia, Altis and the Magnum D, but this will come in another post in the correct section.
So much for introductions and to conclude, many thanks to Team-BHP for accepting my membership request and am looking forward to many more years of association with this wonderful online resource and its many knowledgeable members.
