Hello everyone
I am Amarnath Surath, "amar" to all bhpians. :D Have been a fan of team-bhp for about three years since I accidentally stumbled upon it when looking up the horse power ratings of different isuzu engines, Why? To come to the crux of the matter I was trying to give my CJ-3B a heart transplant.

That said, I am an orthopaedic surgeon in Guntur , Andhra Pradesh. I practice in my own hospital, which means I am my own boss and answer to none other than my patients, wife, kids and “mother”, though not necessarily in that order. Am on the other side of the wall, aged 54, but lead a fairly active life. My interests include camping, photography and cooking, the last is closest to my heart as it’s the only hobby you can eat !! Try eating your stamp collection ; you will be packed off to the asylum by well meaning relatives. I love the out doors and love to rough it in nature – my idea of a holiday is to camp in the jungle , tents and all, for a couple of days and come back to civilization.

Before stepping further I have been thoroughly impressed by the posts of some of the senior members, whose knowledge of 4x4’s and jeeps has humbled me, but then I told myself “ they don’t know a whole lot of orthopaedics “ – correct me if I am wrong. My regular ride used to be a bolero slx 4wd, which I am changing for a vlx, but the lack of 4wd in this avatar bugs me no end! My other vehicle is a ’72 vintage cj-3b, with isuzu 2.4 turbocharged engine & manual 4x4 – a real stallion. Will put up pics when I upload next. Wife drives a swift diesel, she’s not at all impressed with my driving, says there’s too much 4x4 blood in my veins! By the way she’s a doc too ! My jeep is fondly called “maverick”, we shared a whole bunch of good times during the decade its been with me.
Will sign off now, I am sure to have a great time on this forum with so many like minded people

Welcome Amarnath, would love to hear and see more about the CJ3B transformation job. Though i ain't any expert, i also am trying my luck to bring an old CJ3B back to good offroad health :)

Have a great stay.

beauty and the beast !!

Nice to read about your hobbies and pursuits.

Great pic of your wheels.

IT would be great to hear an orthopedic surgeon's point of view about the bones of his 4x4s. And how did the transplant CJ-3b go? Post your notes please.

As well it would be very interesting to hear your stories about camping, photography and cooking that you enjoy. Best Wishes! :)

hi jjains
maverick came home a decade ago with a metador engine and high and low transmission levers
two years later i achnged the engine to an isuzu 1800, with an adapter plate to match the engine and tranny
did i change clutch plates every 3 months !!
then i got an isuzu 4-wd gearbox and mated it
good coupling but not enough power
6months ago i changed into isuzu 2400 engine
