Hello from kolkata

Hello Friends,
First a Big Thank You to all for accepting me as a member of Team BHP, It is really an honour for me.

I am a 39 year old businessman resident of Kolkata. I have always been fascinated by the automotive world and look at cars, bikes as not just a piece of machinery for getting from one place to another but as a wonderful creation of mankind. I have started driving cars from the age of 10 ( under supervision ) and as of now have driven a total of approximately 1,50,000 kms combined on two and four wheels. Currently I own a Ford Fiesta 1.6 Zxi Petrol and a Bajaj Pulser 180. We as a family have owned various cars over the years starting with the Premier Padmini , two Hindustan Ambassadors, Maruti 800, Maruti Zen, Fiat Palio 1.2 Elx. In two wheelers we have had Enfield Fury, Enfield Bullet, Kawasaki Bajaj KB 100 Rtz.

I have an elder brother who lives in the USA and during my visits there I have had the opportunity to drive/ride his possessions there which are an Infinity FX35, Acura MDX, Porshe 911 Carrera, Harley Davidson V-Rod, and an Aprillia Mille RSV.

Last year when I was thinking of replacing the Palio I was searching for help about what I should buy on the internet and it was then that I chanced upon TBHP and since then I have visited the site almost daily as a guest. It was TBHP which led me to buy the Fiesta. Later while browsing around I came upon the 4X4 section and am amazed by the kind of passion some friends have shown about restoring jeeps and now I am dreaming about getting myself a Jeep someday if the finances permit.

That is all for now, hope to learn more from all of you here.

Regards

Rajdeep Mitra

Re: Hello from kolkata

Welcome to Tbhp, Rajdeep. You will find this an enjoyable experience with plenty of fellow petrolheads. Of all the cars/bikes you've driven, the Harley V-Rod and the Aprilia Mille do make me a little envious

Good to know you're interested in jeeps and 4X4s. Calcutta is home to the great Jeep Guru, Uday Bhan Singh. Though we Kolkata tbhpians are nowhere close to the other regions in terms of jeeping frenzy, we have had some interactions with jeeps as the following threads might prove:

And I look forward to seeing you in the next Kolkata meet.

Re: Hello from kolkata

Thanks again friends for the welcome.

cityvic- I stay in saltlake.

predatorwheelz- yes these are awesome machines and I was a bit afraid to ride them, keeping in mind the power that they have. I would prefer the V-rod over the Aprillia though, loved the sound and the riding comfort.

xetaGLGrocks- my Fiesta is a 1.6 Zxi Petrol in red color.

Sutripta- wish I still had the fury around, but it was sold when elder brother moved to the US in 1989.

Calcutta meet sounds good and please make it lunch, not much of an early morning person.
