My santro xing xg (scarlet sage) has almost completed 1 year, it's 1 yr on april 3rd. It has run 16000 kms, almost entirely in the city, about 3000 kms on long distance trips. This car is used by my wife to go to work and is driven mostlyby a driver (actually i should say drivers as we have had so many in just 1 yr that i feel like every driver in bangalore must have driven my car) but touch wood it still is completely undamaged, just one single scratch next to the headlamp. one paid service done, cost me about 600 bucks.
Bought the car at trident hyundai and it was a terrible experience, went for the end of march offer and when i took delivery on 3rd apr half the promised goodies were not there(sun film, seat covers, leather wrapped steering cover), kicked up a fuss and so they fit in only the steering cover, we still persisted for the sun film and seat covers so the lady exec went away for an hour to get permission for the same, finally she said they would fit sun film only that too on an appointed day if i went to their workshop, and reluctantly agreed and when i sat behind the wheel realized that the steering cover is removed, kicked myself for not having taken the promises in writing anyway was totally disgusted by then.
After 15 days, before our RC book had actually reached us, a lady calls from trident to tell my wife that the reg number of our car has been mistakenly alotted to us and it actually belons to somebdy else and so would we please come back to trident and get it corrected my wife blew her top and was rudely told that the lady was just doing her duty by informing us and that it was left to us to fend for ourselves. Imagine if the other car with our no. happened to meet with an accident or got involved in a hit and run case in those 15 days. well got a new no. and when the RC book came it had a totally different model entered in it, it said our car was a santro xs, while i actually had an xg. another trip to trident to get it corrected, and when the insurance policy arrived(we just had an insurance paid receipt till then) it had about 13 corrections and all of them corrected by hand with a round UIA seal on it. Met Cmdr. Kumar who said such things happen and it was unfortunate that all of them happened to us, he smiled and apologised shook hands and said he would ensure that it would not happen again.
So now at the end of 1 yr and 16000 kms this is what i have experienced, as far as the car is concerned, i get 15 kmsto a lt. w/o ac in city, drivers it is 13kms/lt, with ac it is 2 kms less, went on some long drives like mysore, ooty, coorg, kabini etc, healthy avg of 19 on highways mix of ac and non ac.
Last week we again went to coorg, 250 kms,all without ac cos i started early in the morning, filled upto brim and it took in 17 litres or so, trip meter reading was reset, on reaching madikeri again topped up the tank to the brim, it took in 10.18 lts trip meter showed 266 kms so did the calculation 266 divided by 10.18 and got an astounding figure of 26.12. wow! tell me if i made a mistake in calculation, am bad at math anyway.
Car has not given any probs so far, had a bit of knocking noise while braking sometime ago seems to have disappeared on its own, doors creak sometimes on opening and closing, ride is good if in city, can't take bad roads above 60kmph, it hops all over the road, braking is good but has the tendency to lock wheels if u r not careful while using the pedals(proves a pain in bumper to bumper traffic) seats could have been more comfortable, tend to get back ache on long drives. one hell of a long post, anyway am still new here, will try to keep it short next time (observe and learn
)
