chevrolet optra royale 1.6 1000kms

hi guys,
im a newbie out here

date of purchase : 17th Jan 2006
colour: black
model: top-end royale

my dad fixed a budget of around 9-13laks for my car

here are the alternatives and why we didnt consider it (no offence to current/past owners)

city
- looks bad (IMHO)
- low power
- no road presence (looks like a small car)

elantra
- we have another hyundai car
- horrible grill

corolla
-bad looks
-expensive compared to optra. not vfm. low end model (with NO features) is more expensive than optra
-more or less same interior comfort compared to optra
-dosent suit a young guy

octavia rider
-less rear seat space
-spares toooo expensive (the cost of spares compensate for the fuel efficiency)
-unnecessary expense (13laks OTR) for base model

well i got my royale from sundaram motors, bangalore. paid around 10laks OTR

it comes with all the required features

good
-looks hot!! (will post pics soon)
-very very spacious
-sunroof (automatic). sunroof is great
-amazing music system. got blaupunkt double din with 8 speakers
-its definetly an eye turner
-retractable mirrors are strong (many have twisted it 180 degrees manually many times, yet it works)
-great interiors. stanley leather, factory fitted.. is really well done. most of the interiors is leather.
-good alloys. company alloys are good..
-average FE. get around 10-11. new VGIS technology
- excellent suspension

bad
-black will burn you down in the summer
-gearbox not too smooth (although iv been told that itll become smoother after use)

overall its a great car. very vfm. spares are not too expensive
customer care at sundaram is great.

car is not at all overpriced. after chevy releases the diesel version it should eat away corolla and octavia definetly.

FYI,
The leather on the optra is artificial leather or leatherret. No car comes with orginal leather except the e class/c class/vectra/camry.
And its definetly not by stanley.....

You can upgrade to 15"s without voiding your warranty. I've switched to HR alloys with 205/55r15 Goodyear Eagle Venturas. The ride is not as cushy as with stock rims, but the handling has definitely improved.

Optra Royale

Got a black Optra Royale in Oct 2005.Done close to 3k km since then

- The upholstry IS stanley leather
- Lousy steering grip though - got it fitted with stanley leather later on.
- The gear shift is kinda tight otherwise the car rocks.

optra royale is great vfm..
for that price we're getting everything needed. no need to visit any car accessory shop again.

plus the quality of leather and the fitting is excellent. great care has been taken to develop the interiors

Black will burn is nothing to do with the car, its a matter of your colour choice but please put Vkool then you wont feel the heat.

Gear Box will become smooth i can assure you.

Diesel Engines are high tech and will produce 120bhp.

The car comes with Original Leather atleast the 1.8LT as the cost is around 1 Lac more for that alone.

p.s where are the pics??

Vkool is a sun control film which cuts out 95% of the heat. Costs 20k but then its worth every penny. Must for a black car.

weird...The Optra is selling like hot cakes in chennai despite the bad After Sales service from Sundaram/MPL (the only 2 dealers) here....

I recently convinced a friend to go for the Optra though he was all sold for the NHC...and now he can't stop thanking me enough
