Good DIY!

And I see that you are using 15W40 oil, i.e. Mineral oil, how long do you find the smoothness in the engine? Does it last for 5K kms or the NVH increases earlier?

It goes well till 4500 kms after which I begin to notice an increase in NVH. Now, I am not quite sure if it is psychological.

It is not psychological!

Reason for me telling this is, when I had the Ritz VDI, I used synthetic oil (5W40) which has a change interval of 10K kms that was silent and good enough till 9K kms but the last 1K kms were like a AL lorry.

Yet to have an oil change by MASS in my Swift ZDi which is at 10K kms though I changed the oil + oil filter proactively at 5K kms, now thw car is at 7.5K kms.

re: My Gen3 Maruti Suzuki Swift VDi Sep2011 1,05,000km done EDIT: SOLD

We encountered continuous rains on our trip to Goa. Add to that, there was road construction work going on at various sections of Amboli Ghat as well. The car was covered in muck and there were tar spots all around. The only sane option was to take it to 3M car care near my work place.

The person at 3M recommended some treatment to wash and wax the car which would take care of the tar spots as well. The end result was satisfactory though I feel that 3M has lost touch with quality off late. He used some adhesive cleaner to get rid of the tar spots. I think a dedicated bug and tar remover should have been available with 3M. The cost was somewhere around 900-1000 bucks.

You are right, 3M guys do a Foam Wash + Waxing that takes care of everything and it comes down to Rs 1050 including taxes.

re: My Gen3 Maruti Suzuki Swift VDi Sep2011 1,05,000km done EDIT: SOLD

I've been following your thread for sometime!
I too have a Gen 3 Swift VDi with VIN number less than that mentioned in the Maruti's circular for synthetic oil.

Here's my experience on the Synthetic/Mineral engine oil.

During its 30K service, the SA insisted to try out Maruti provided Synthetic oil (is this Mobil's flavour?). I gave it a try, but was not really happy during this run.
After about 35K kms, I started get a lot of jetting during mornings when I used to get the car onto the ramp before hitting the road (having waited in idle for about 30 seconds on the day's first crank).
There used to be something missing with the 2nd and 3rd gear pull. I was too laggy.
It was time for 40K and I was mentally prepared, went to J.K. Automobiles from J.C. Road in Bangalore and picked up 4 litres of Delvac MX 15W40 Mineral Oil got it filled at Service center and things changed for good.
The car is now 42K on the odo and runs like a gun.
No more early morning jetting and also the engine noise levels have come down with the absence of lags during 2nd and 3rd gears.

I didn't post my experience till I crossed 2K with Delvac MX 15W40 as I wanted to give it sometime to understand if it is really working for me.

Now, ergo this post!

Hello moralfibre!
Hope you're doing well!
Jogging this thread after a year
So, I guess you would've clocked over 65K on the odo by now.
I'm with the Delvac MX 15W40 ever since 40K and now I'm reaching 60K.

Just wanted to know if you're still with same oil.
Appreciate if you could share the latest!

Yes I am with the same oil. Car has trudged past 80k kms now. Major servicing is due. I'll get the following done shortly:

- Suspension overhaul. The car is bouncing away to glory.
- Brake pad replacement.
- Clutch overhaul.
- EGR cleaning.
- Intercooler cleaning.
- Throttle body cleaning.
- Regular service (without diesel filter and coolant replacement. These wee replaced just about 5000 kms ago).

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply.
I was away for sometime.
Good to know that you're still with Delvac MX.
I've done 65k as of now and will be following the same path you've planned with the suspensions, brake pads, clutch assembly and throttle body.
Please leave your comments on how much they cost you when you get them done.
Your inputs are of good value to me.
I'm a little concerned with the clutch assembly if they last really good.
Thanks a ton!

re: My Gen3 Maruti Suzuki Swift VDi Sep2011 1,05,000km done EDIT: SOLD

After completing an uneventful 7 years and 2 months, the Swift was sold a couple of weeks ago with 1,05,000kms on the odo. The only major replacements in it's life were:

1) Battery replacement within the first few years of ownership
2) clutch replacement at 90,000km
3) Two complete set of tyre changes

The most fuss free, trouble free and cheap to maintain car I have owned. Needless to say, I got back more than half the money I paid for it.
