Is that why your avatar pic is expression that blissful emotion?

Damn. Now I gotta wait for the next impropto meet!!!

@mikon
How about a drag race? That "something else" vs car. Unless someone can source a Cruze, you know which car i'm talking about.

Correct me if I am shooting in the dark. What does it take to reach 100?

(For those who are planning to take insurance on your own, you need the insurance to be done before the car can be sent for registration : You are given two options for payment - Credit Card & Cheque payment. If you choose cheque as the payment mode, the insurance guys provide you a cover letter when they pickup the cheque - that is enough for the RTO registration process. If you pay by credit card, you get the soft copy of the insurance after minimum 48 hours - I didn't know this & had to wait)

I land up at the dealer workshop (car was to be picked up there instead of the showroom) and am given all the documents while the lady is taken for a wash.

Finally she arrives - all washed and looking lovely like a newly wed bride!

Ninja sir,

I got my ownership thread up and running. Wanted to check if they activated the music system via some 4 digit code? Am still waiting for that 4 digit code to get mine activated.

Awesome! Somehow missed out on that - will be heading over.

Mine came activated with the delivery - but I remember when I went for the PDI, I couldn't play with it as they had to activate it which would be done when the dealer completes its PDI. Wonder why they haven't done that by now.

Are they awaiting the codes from the VW factory itself?

re: My Shadow Blue VW Vento TDI. EDIT: SOLD after 8 years, 80000+ km!

In the case of most initial ownership reports, I read the first page that is the write up about the whole experience & go directly to the last. But your thread was so addictive, with the pics & the replies, that I went through all 9 pages of it & I have to say even I am in love with your Vento now.
The blue is just mesmerizing & the pictures especially the night ones with your Canon makes my heart ache.
Keep the replies coming & here's cheers to all those long trips ahead.

P.S.: I just moved out of the famous "body-shop" company at Hinjewadi to Mumbai, to a completely different line. How you handling the morning crawling traffic from Wakad to Hinjewadi?

re: My Shadow Blue VW Vento TDI. EDIT: SOLD after 8 years, 80000+ km!

This is one rare case where I took a ride in the car first (noops was driving) then read the ownership review later, much later. I must confess that the ride was fantastic; once the car moves out of idle, there is no way one can make out that it is a diesel. And totally my bad that I missed this thread completely, which, by the way, is moving at zapping speed too.

But better late than never, congratulations on a fantastic car. Loved the color. The newer HU looks much nicer, but the speakers could be better.

I can understand why you are crunching miles; in your position I would have done the same This is one addictive vehicle, begs to be driven around, that too on diesel prices.

Yes. The avatar pic changed. Lol.
Eagerly waiting for the "Ventaursurus Family" Meet.
Already did the drag. Not with a cruze though.
its 0 to 100 ~ 3 secs and 110 to 135 ~ 2 secs

No sir, I only have the mamba. Viper would be in process soon. But not this one. Might be the mighty "one".

Back to topic - I'm in need of head lamps change. Went to Mumbai this weekend. Lights are not enough.

@mikon, if you had posted that info on the day of the impromto meet, I probably would have asked my mom to pick up a taxi from airport!

Do you have it at ICC today? If so, will ask my boss to take a hike - I am coming over there in the 2nd half!

Thanks! On the speakers front, I would be going for an upgrade with the full works. But that has been postponed for atleast a year. Had i got the older version - without the USB & steering controls, I would have had it done it by now.

And you are welcome for the ride - it is available any time you feel the need to ride a diesel

Sorry for spilling the beans here, @Mikon but couldnt resist. The mighty "one", would be the Yamaha R1. Mikon may be going in for that too.

For headlights, try and get in touch with @naveen.raju. His Vento has amazing headlamps. I believe its those smoked/angel eyes ones.

EDIT: Here's the linky to his thread .

Dot ji, I thought noops has a petrol Vento AT? Or you meant that he was driving someone else's Vento diesel when you got to ride? I am confused.
