XUV-500 .The Mamba .. First Ownership Thread

@all XUV/Auto Expert

I am getting a buy option for a Pre Production testing W6 made in 2011 with 2L Discount. M&M is claiming that it will come with standard warranty and have gone through quality checks and replaced with production parts where-ever necessary.

Particularly - paint and Trim fading warranty excluded.

Question: is it worth? Considering vehicle is 2 year old, with some KM (not disclosed) on ODO.

Do share your views.

XUV has come a long way in sorting out its initial teething problems. There have been 2-3 upgrades in 2013 with 40+ issues addressed. In a 2year old model you are likely to witness the same old niggles.

The KM (not disclosed on odo) is the most fishy of the issues. A two year old vehicle should have a reasonable reading on the odo.

My personal opinion would be to stay away lest you end up with a lemon!

OT : I guess this post is better suited for the Official Review Thread than one of the Ownership Threads.

This is exactly what we get in our W8 XUV in City and on highway.

Its been ages since I have updated the thread.. Apologies.

The Mamba is still as fresh as new. I realise its been almost 3 years since i took it, only when some one asks me the age

Update : Its 53000 kms old. Last service done at 50k.

Mileage : Been a steady 10kmpl , with 90% city driving

Daily use has increased in last 2 months, since I moved to Bellandur and started driving through the "save-my-knee" roads to Infantry road

Been doing BLR- Palakkad and BLR- Chennai drives mostly. No major long drives in some time. Which is about to change as Im driving to Goa tomo

Clutch has been a concern for me, as it gets pretty hard after a while. Strains the knee heavily. I got it serviced again this time. Its smooth now .

Brake pedals will need replacement in another 5k kms.

Driving it is still a bliss. Enjoying it to the fullest. Ive never enjoyed any of my previous 3 cars as much.

While I would say the city KPL could be under 10, I disagree on the highway figure of below 13.

I have always manage 16+ on highways. No experience of metro/ big city traffic with XUV W8.

Thanks for the update. But, why the brake pedals need replacement? Or you are referring to the brake pads?

Back after long.

Update : Mamba is 70k kms fresh now. Got the tyres changed this weekend. Switched from JK to Goodyear Wrangler. ( Yes, it survived 70k kms )

No specific issues, except for the lighting. Various combos of bulbs have not worked. The throw at low beam is a worry inside the city.

Taking a long drive this month end. Driving up to Leh from Bangalore. Trying some unconventional routes. An Ecosport from Mumbai would be driving along.

Would post a travelogue soon

Your thread along with few others had given me confidence in purchasing my XUV last year.

I too stay in Bellandur and will be in Leh this month end (flying down), hope to catch your XUV either in Bangalore or in Leh sometime.
