Just when I thought my car will run trouble-free for a while, it surprised me by throwing 2 problems in one day.

Started the car and switched on the AC to full blast. 10 mins later there was a mini swimming pool on the LHS of my interiors. Took it to the AC guy who said the AC drain pipe was dislocated and he quickly fixed it and voila problem solved. Went home and parked my car.

Again fired the car in the afternoon and switched on the AC. Drove around for 15 mins and realised the ac wasn't cooling efficiently. To my horror, the needle on the temperature gauge was touching the H mark. Immediately switched off the AC and since my friendly neighbourhood garage was just 2 mins away I decided to drive down there and kept revs to a minimum.

Reached there and kept the bonnet open for a while to let the car cool down since it had become too hot.
The entire coolant had leaked out and the mechanic kept putting mugs of water in the coolant tank and then checked the ac after a while which started cooling properly again.

So we concluded that the problem occurred due to coolant leak. Lifted the car on the ramp and check all the hoses and pipes. The faulty one was replaced by evening leaving my wallet lighter by Rs. 1200/-

Right now I've filled water in the coolant tank and will check for a couple of days for any leakage post which I will fill it up with new coolant.

Oh sorry completely forgot about that! But we can still do it sometime soon ;)

So its been a week since the overheating issue and things were going fine. But it seems my Spark had other plans.

This happened today -

Started driving home from college. Soon horn stops working and I shrugged it off as a minor issue. Then the music stopped playing and AC stopped cooling. Now I knew something's definitely wrong.

Drove for 2-3 kms and the car was making 'boom boom' sounds under the hood everytime I slowed down for a speed breaker. I just prayed that the car manages to reach home which was 7-8 kms away.

Then it stalls in the middle of an intersection and I had no choice but to push it to the side with honks blaring from everywhere. Managed to locate a garage who checked everything. Battery and fuses were fine so the guy concluded it to be an alternator issue.

Car is currently getting checked. Don't know how much does a new alternator cost.

Got the crankshaft sensor changed for 2300. The battery was a bit low so we jump-started the car.

Now the issue is, the battery isn't getting charged by the alternator. The car dies down as soon as I leave the accelerator pedal. Also, the check engine light is constantly staying.

The battery light indicator was not showing in the instrument panel.

Now the story starts:
After driving for a while I felt the AC wasn't cooling properly. So set the blower to speed 2.
Drove 2 kms and the temperature guage started rising and went all the way till the red mark Hot. So I pulled up at the side and called up the SA.
They were discussing who test drove the car etc.

Since 1 week I'm facing problems with this car. Really irritated.

39000 kms done. Haven't driven much in the past couple of months.
Some new issues that have cropped up:

1)While driving the car jerks especially at speeds below 60-70. The jerks are not too major but can surely be felt inside the cabin.

2) Loud thud sound coming from the front and rear left suspension when hitting the famous potholes of mumbai.

Oh and it seems the ICE is on the verge of dying. The headunit starts and shuts on its own, sometimes the CD doesn't go in, skips some parts of a song when the car goes thru a pothole and yesterday when I braked to stop at a signal even the front speaker stopped playing music! The rear ones also make some weird screeching noise randomly.
I think I'll get a new ICE after my exams.

The alternator belt was making the screeching noise yet again but I continued driving. Then all of a sudden the noise stopped and I heard a sound of something snapping in the engine bay.

New tyres - Rs. 15000-16000.
Front bumper - Repair - Rs. 1000 or Replace - Rs. 1700
Repaint front bumper - Rs. 1500-2000 I guess.

Hey there!
I am quoting all the problems you have faced till now and have posted on this thread. Your posts says it all buddy. I know you love your Spark but you are spending way too much on your car than you should have.
Do not feel bad but I feel its time to let her go.please:
Telling it for your own good.
May your car be alright!

After 3 years of using the Spark (19 May 2011 to 13 May 2014) I finally replaced it with a pre-worshipped Beat LS in black which I got in excellent condition.

The Beat has done just 15k kms.
I did consider Swift and Ritz but these cars rattle a lot and honestly I've been spoilt by the Spark which didn't make a single sound.

Thanks guys. This is a Beat LS 2010 August model.
Asking price was Rs. 2.85 lakhs which we got down to Rs. 2.60 lakhs and got 80k for the Spark.

Congrats StrangeWizard on the new possession. Have been following your thread for quite sometime now. Looks like you are a die hard Chevy fan. The black beat LS looks totally immaculate in the pic. Wish you many more miles ahead in your new drive.

Congratulations @ StrangeWizard so another chevy in your garage.

Looks like you have stuck perfect chord with chevy :)

The chevy spark you traded for Rs 80k is listed at Rs 1.55 lacs by broker dalal in their website. Now that's huge profit margin.

I am sure you will come up with a new thread for your chevy Beat.

Enjoy your ride.

Congrats Strange Wizard on the pre worshipped Beat. Hope it serves you well for many years to come. :-)
Broker Dalal has added nearly 100 percent margin on your car and not only this, they have listed your car as 45k run on their website but if I am not wrong I saw your post on thr used car price thread that your car had done 51k kms.
Have they tampered the odo?
Looks like its the norm with every used car dealer these days.

Well they have even written that it is a first owner car even though I (my mom) was the second owner.

The Spark needed a paintjob and a new exhaust muffler and there was a small engine oil leakage. Don't think any other work was required as of now.

I did see the listing and I feel someone will surely get the price down before buying it.

Oh btw it is an LS and they wrote LT. Lets see

Congrats buddy on the Beat. Looks like your have had a nice attachment with Chevy even after so many issues in your older car - the Spark.

Nice to see the bonding. Wishing many happy miles to come in the Beat.

So the next car I see you buying is a pre worshipped Chevy Cruze. Right?! :D
