1st Satin White Mahindra XUV500 W8 FWD on Team-BHP. EDIT: 85,000 kms up

Earlier it was the first 2.0TDI superb in Mumbai on 10th April 2009 and now its the first W8 XUV on T-bhp.

Finally took the delivery of W8 FWD XUV5OO from G3 motors Kandiwali.I booked the car on 30th Sep,the day when the bookings were opened.I had booked AWD w8,but later got a call after 5 days that the AWD model will be delivered only after March 2012,and if I switch to the two wheel drive(FWD) model I will get the delivery within a months time.I took the plunge and went ahead with the FWD.

The booking and overall experience with G3 motors was horrendous.I had to shoot several emails to the ASM of M&M for the confirmation on delivery. The sucess of Xuv has got into the head of all the dealers across the nation.I am carrying a nice little gift worth Rs 1200 for the Sales guy who was in constant touch with regards to the delivery dates.

It was back in 2004 when I had a zen carbon 2 door & I had people stopping in front of me and asking about the car.The same attention comes back today.A guy in Range Rover Freelander got down and started asking about the car.Its a head turner for sure.

After taking the delivery took Xuvi(I have christened her Xuvi) to the petrol pump and she gulped around 69litres of diesel. The car info screen shows average of 12kmpl.The gear shifts are very smooth and I am not an expert since I drive the auto superb. The rear visibility is very poor ,so I removed the head rest of the middle passenger on the 2nd row.Much better now.

Pickup is superb.Found the turning radius to be extremely amazing.I don't have any complaints with the fit and finish of the interiors .The ICE is loaded with sat nav, bluetooth and array features. The sound output is just average.Took her to an audio installer and he said replacing the speakers wont enhance the sound quality,he said there is only tow Rca out an nothing much can be done.So I can live with it since I am not selling my superb and its got an awesome setup in it.

I quite liked the LED lights inside the cabin and the mood lighting which illuminates the door handles and the upper part. The steering is very smooth, feels like a sedan.I am happy to get the 17 " bridgestones dueller, they are of high quality.I will be installing 3M SP35 film on the side and back glass and 70 on the front screen.I have installed the rain visors from the showroom for 1850Rs.

I am completely in Love with Xuvi.I will be taking her to Goa this Saturday. To sum it up Its a vasool deal for 14Lacs.Till then let the pictures do the talking.

Keep revving!!!

Let me be the first to wish you Kedar. Congrats on your acquisition. Good buy.Looking forward to the pictures. Wishing you happy miles in your new ride.
Is the 'XUVI' in the title intentional?

Congrats Kedar. Wishing you a long trouble free ownership.

You became quite a important person at the dealership. They actually put up a board welcoming you. That was a first for me. Definitely impressed by that.

Do post detailed report of your drive to Goa and update us about how Xuvi performs on the road.

Hearty congratulations Kedar & fantastic, crisp review. Nice pictures, but we want to see more of them, keep them coming. Please carry a good camera enroute Goa & treat us with some really good pictures.

Enjoy your drive & wishing you many happy (s)miles with your XUVi (nice name, reminds me of the Yuvi aka Yuvraj Singh of the Indian cricket team, BTW, is he your favorite player by any chance?)

As Manson stated in his review,The plastic reflection is all over the windscreen.I used my oakley polaroid sunglasses and the reflection dissapeared.

They packed the extra Key in a nice small black box, which was quite impressive.

Unfortunately I had to pay 58K for icici lombard 0 dep insurance.I know I have paid the dealer atleast 20k extra, but there was no other alternative, otherwise he said the delivery will be delayed. So I guess I paid a premium of 20 K for early delivery.

I used to frequent the showroom quite often and everytime I used to blast on the Sales manager for my delivery updates, guess thats the reason why they put the welcome board.
Will post a detailed review on the Goa trip.

I am using a canon 7D with 18-135 mm lens which is a top end DSLR.
No fascination with Yuvraj. It just came to my mind and I named her Xuvi.

Sold the carbon to a t-bhpian named Lingaraj.

Now its raining XUV's in team bhp. Congratulations and may you have a long healthy relationship with the car and many happy miles with it. Do post more specific reviews of the Video entertainment system and the kind of formats it supports. Also is it possible to make it play videos while the car is moving, also is it possible to have a central screen in between the front and rear passengers.

Congratulations. The XUV does look elegant in this shade of white and the stock alloys. Do keep us updated on any niggles you face.

Hey Kedar

Congrats! Simply awesome ride you got man. This is one heck of a product from M&M and its giving sleepless nights to other companies having products in the 10-20 lac bracket. XUV5OO ticks all the boxes and gives even more at the price and "if only looks could kill" exteriors are at their most stunning from all angles. We need more pics to pacify the hungry eyes.

14 lacs on road for W8 FWD is a steal IMO.

Wishing you all the very best with the beast! Drive Safe and take care.

Congrats for the new XUV
I simply love the red illumination at various places inside the cabin. It gives a nice feel while driving.
However I am still not able to digest the point that why haven't they provided boot space behind the 3rd row. They must have forgotten that such a thing exists.

Congratulations kedar!
Your Xuvi looks GREAT - enjoy the vehicle and have a super safe trip to Goa.

I checked out the XUV with the Chowpatty dealer and liked the car (beast) very much at the price point. However have decided against it as after having 2 auto cars, just cannot go back to a manual, especially in the crazy Bombay traffic

Cheers!
