re: Long term report - Ford Figo 1.2. EDIT: Sold at 51,000 km

Completed the second set of aux lamp fitting during the week.

As of now the 3 aux lamps are connected, one of it is a fog lamp.
Removed the stone guard of the top two lamps since it looked odd with all of them covered.

Car has crossed 42,000 kms now and is a daily drive than a weekend only warrior .

Few pictures I took when the car was lifted to check a power steering fluid leak. Never had clear shot of the headers till date.

re: Long term report - Ford Figo 1.2. EDIT: Sold at 51,000 km

Replaced the return pipe for the power steering which had a small leak. The leak was less and I had planned on replacing it during the scheduled service.
Since there was a long trip coming up, I replaced it right away.
It was done at the quick service Bay which took couple of hours.
Total cost was 3750/-
Part cost was 2100/-

re: Long term report - Ford Figo 1.2. EDIT: Sold at 51,000 km

Done with a 1300kms trip last week to Kerala.

No issues with the car. The 195 Zlo's made a difference in high speed stability which improved especially on bad roads. The car was loaded with luggage and 3 people and I kept it at 3k rpm most of the way except the second half of the return where I increased the speeds.
Fuel efficiency was nothing great and I'll blame it on my driving style. With AC all the time, and triple digit speeds, I got 13 kmpl.
The only gripe I had was I had to wring the engine for all its power after crossing around 110kmh.
Its fine if you are a sedate driver, and mid range poke is a acceptable as well.
But it's a petrol and I love revving the nuts of it especially with a nice exhaust note.

re: Long term report - Ford Figo 1.2. EDIT: Sold at 51,000 km

Tomorrow marks the 6th year completion of the car.

I guess this will be the last one too. As I grow older, the need for speed grows higher and the car finds it hard to deliver.
The car is still running fine though with no complains. The last year saw the odo clocking more than 6k. The service is due in couple of months. I thought of shifting to fully synthetic oil so I can feel the difference before giving it away.

No squeaks and rattles although the shock absorbing has reduced which may also be due to the 195 Zlo's.

What I will miss is the perfect road dynamics and steering of this car which I doubt if I can get on any new models.

re: Long term report - Ford Figo 1.2. EDIT: Sold at 51,000 km

Hit the 44444 kms mark.

Service for the 6th year is due with no complains. Mileage is slowly reaching the double digit mark due to control over my right foot.

re: Long term report - Ford Figo 1.2. EDIT: Sold at 51,000 km

Another trip completed during the weekend.

Covered 800 kms to Calicut and back and crossed 45k kms in the process. No issues during the drive except for the usual weird sound mentioned in the earlier posts when accelerating and at times when coasting. I guess it is got to do with the air intake position which I have changed on my car.
On the way I did a mileage drive just to check efficiency and it didn't make a difference and it was the usual 13 kmpl with AC all the time so return was the usual pedal to metal most of the time.

Car is due for service and since it was a holiday yesterday and the service centre was closed, headed to 3M Car Care at Indiranagar for the interior cleaning which has never been done since I got the car.
It was the basic interior cleaning package along with body wash + one coat polish which was a rip off. Almost Rs 800 more just for a basic coat of polish over a body wash. And the polish was rubbed down by a cloth and not the machine.
Interior cleaning was good except it left the chemical smell in the car with damp seats as well which I got rid off by leaving the windows slightly open.

I have to make sure the Ford Service does not wash the car or soil the interior when I give it for service in a couple of weeks.

re: Long term report - Ford Figo 1.2. EDIT: Sold at 51,000 km

Completed the 6th year service today.
Car has run 45,333 kms.
Fuel filter was replaced for the first time as per schedule. Battery was replaced as well since it was over six years old. Although it didn't show any weakness during cranking, the health check showed in the middle, but still in green. I decided to replace it since it may go dead anytime.
SA mentioned the drive shaft bearing needs to be replaced as well which I didn't find necessary, hence pushed to the next service.
Ford uses Shell engine oil now from Castrol earlier. Castrol was perfect for this engine and lasted the full year regardless of kms covered. Have to see how Shell fares.
Clutch oil and was replaced as well.

Surprise was the car was returned in 3 hours. That was a first, probably also because I asked them not to wash the car.

Battery after exchange costed 4k. MotoKraft for Petrol.
Routine 60k kms services was another 4k.

I completed my 50k km 6th year service a month back. I was advised to change the timing belt as ford recommends it to be changed at 5 years or 120k km.Though i see it mentioned by people on the forum for diesel figo, Funnily i dont see it mentioned in my manual and i was shown this on the post 2013 figo manual.

should i replace the timing belt and pulley at next service? I dont hear any screeching sounds that belts usually make when they are deteriorating.

Also the ford service center in Goa claims to use 5w30 semi synthetic oil from shell by default for many years ,i was skeptical since the cost per liter is hardly 210 rs.
On inquiring i was told since they buy in huge quantities and ford wants to reduce service cost for customers they sell the oil at the whole sale rate with hardly any profit. Sounds true?

i knows its long overdue but Rated your thread a well deserved 5 stars

The timing belt on my car was replaced in the 5th year service, but it was due to the belt starting to shred most probably due to rats. I haven't heard them talking about scheduled replacement of the belt.

I don't think it is semi-synth oil as you mentioned, since then the price will be higher.
They mentioned the same to me when I checked regarding the Castrol oil they were using earlier, until I did some research and found out that it is was non-synthetic oil.

Couple of videos I took of the exhaust note from behind the car while driving.

re: Long term report - Ford Figo 1.2. EDIT: Sold at 51,000 km

Done with the wheel rotation at Madhus last weekend. It has been 5k kms since I changed the tyres to MRZ Zlo's.
There was a whoop-whoop sound at a certain speed from the rear left. It has been reported on the forum by few and the reason is the thread design and direction.

The wheel rotation has solved the sound to some extent. The sound was only from the rear left which is now at the front and the sound is not as obvious as before. Need to drive on a well paved road with constant speed to check if it is completely gone.

re: Long term report - Ford Figo 1.2. EDIT: Sold at 51,000 km

Thanks to a fellow member for posting a link on the discounted sale of Philips extreme vision plus bulbs, I ordered a set straight away.
The Philips rally 90/100 was around 6 years old and I could feel they had lost their brightness. Add to that one of bulbs getting fused.

I reverted to the stock bulb on the fused side for a while until I got the Xtreme vision. The stock was as good as no bulb in the slot, add to that the bad design and reflector on the old gen Figo's.
Later fitted the Xtreme vision plus just to compare with the 90/100 on one side and surprise, it is brighter. It can be due to the above mentioned reasons too. I am yet to drive in a full dark condition to guage the actually difference.

The front windshield tint was also removed since it didn't seem to be effective anymore and night driving seemed to getting difficult as well, probably also to do with growing old.
With all the changes, I'm expecting a good difference in the dark.

Car is nearing the 47k mark with no issues except for the shockers that seems to be nearing end of life.

re: Long term report - Ford Figo 1.2. EDIT: Sold at 51,000 km

Finally got rid of the drone sound in the cabin during trips.

Because of the free flow exhaust, although it was made with a resonator and lots of wool stuffed for minimum sound, there used to be a drone in the cabin at around 3k rpm which was the engine speed I am at most of the times on a highway.
Recently I picked up a 'turbo whistle' which is an accessory which is fitted to the tail pipe which mimics the turbo whine or whistle. One side of it looks like a funnel and the other end has a detachable whistle. I removed the whistle since it was too loud on my car with the free exhaust and left just the body at the tail pipe. This reduced the sound at the tail pipe due to the partially blocked outlet.

On a recent trip I stuck the same speeds as before and the drone had reduced quite a bit. This is something like the end cans that are available with a removable tip to make the outlet dia big or small and hence changes the sound.
A small fitment which made long trips not that loud.
Car has crossed 47000 kms now.

re: Long term report - Ford Figo 1.2. EDIT: Sold at 51,000 km

Running has increased over the last couple of months due to multiple trips.

Odo is nearing the 50k kms mark and engine running like clockwork. The link rod squeak has re-surfaced from the front shocks. The dampers have reached end of life as well from the feel. Surprisingly when I travelled on a 25k kms run Aspire cab recently, the shocks felt the same as my car in this state.

On a recent drive to Goa , I ended up reversing into a cast iron lamp post on one of the narrow roads there and dented the boot latch area. In the process, the boot was stuck shut and had to get it fixed at Trend Automobiles. This was my second reverse dent and it seems I am growing old and need reversing sensors.
Got an average of 14 kmpl with AC on 100% for around 1500 kms trip which was actually a good figure for my car. Roads were great as well all around.

Only surprising part was I couldn't reach the top end which I had touched few years back and I was down by almost 15 kmph! Load was the same except the tyres are fatter now.

Some pictures;
