Actually, this aspect of the kit being easy to install and remove prompted me to go for it. Its just a 5 minutes job to remove the kit, or to install it.

And this is the sole reason I did not bother to check for insurance/RTO formalities.

Update at 45414 kms.

The car was giving a clicking sound from the front right side on fully locked steering on the left side. Got an appointment at Harpreet Ford today, and got the problem fixed.

Diagnosis: The jumping rod had to be adjusted. It was fixed.

Additionally, they opened the suspension on the right side and found the shock absorber had gone kaput.

And, they suggested that I get the V-belt for accessories changed, which I requested them to change.

Total damage done to the pocket: Rs. 1,660.

Breakup:

V-belt RPP-Rs. 754.75 +tax Rs. 101.87=Rs. 856.14,
Shock absorber asy. Frt. RH 2,607.00 - Free - replaced under goodwill warranty.
Labour : Shock absorber-Removal and installation-Rs. 390 +tax Rs. 48.20= Rs. 438.20
V-belt-Removal and installation-Rs. 325 +tax Rs. 40.17=Rs. 365.17.

Total time taken - 6 hours, including the time wasted on warranty claim, etc.

Result-The clicking sound eliminated.

Next project: tire change.

@deep,

What was the reason for the jumping rod to get misaligned? Any particular reason as to why the suspension went bad? Was it oil leakage? Was this the right rear of the front shocks?

I have the financial burden of quite a few big projects of my life. So, I need funds. Having explored/exhausted all others, this is the final assault.

No oil leakages anywhere. Very surprising. And, I have always driven sedately. No rough/rash driving, no jumping the breakers, no potholes, even on the highways, nothing of boyish stuff, but it was there.

The shocker was also giving a sharp kick on release. The mechanics went into a huddle to discuss how this could have happened. But, no logical conclusion could be arrived.

The shocker was changed in the end.

It was the front right, that had earlier also created a problem, and was replaced.

Mileage update after installing the RD tuning kit.

Continuing with my post on 29th February, 2012, There has been a noted increase in mileage and softness after the RD kit was fitted.

I put in 102.66 ltrs. of diesel, and the car covered total of 2005 kms with this much of diesel, thereby giving a mileage of 19.53 kms to a liter of diesel.

And THIS TOO, after driving 450 kms with A.C. on.

Before the RD kit was installed, the mileage I was getting was max 17.91kmpl.

Add to it the softness. And there is NO BLACK SMOKE during normal acceleration.

So, an increase of about 1.62 kms to a ltr. of diesel (9.0% over the stock) with increased pick up, no change in smoke levels, and smooth engine.

I have never heard anything like this before. We have hundreds of cars running petes boxes and remaps and performance parts but why do we need additional insurance for these changes.

Thanks!

Just browsed across to see the RD review and was happy to look at the Fusion review

Were you able to buy a RD kit and fit it by yourself or needed some technician's help?

Thanks for sharing! is the car still with you by chance?

I got the kit fitted by pro mod auto, Noida, as I did not know the connections then.

But uninstalled it myself.

I have, alas, sold the Fusion.

Hello deep,
Did you sell the car with the RD kit or did you sell it separately? Asking this cause my friend is looking for a used kit.

Mods - Apologies for breaking any rules

Regards,
Varun

Re: Ford Fusion Plus TDCi review EDIT: RD Tuning-Kit fitted!

Hello deepfusion,

I was going through this thread and realized... wasn't the Fusion the first Ford car in India which introduced the 1.4 TDCi engine in India? It followed in the Ikon and then the Figo and later the Fiesta too..

Fusion was a nice and practical car, I remember the marketing material had the "best in class driver visibility" mentioned in it. It came in at a time when the sedan seemed to be the preferred choice of car buyers. See how times have changed.
