Well the 'trained' Skoda Technician, after having given them a thorough checkup, said that they are at 50% wear and are good enough for several thousand of kms still. Should I believe him or not? Also, if the pad material, which is supposed to be very hard to begin with, gets even harder according to your expert opinion, then why do manufacturers not have a fixed change period for them in the service schedules, like they have for the brake oil. I have seen brake pads go kaput in just 10k kms and even last past 70~80k kms (typically they are supposed to last 40k miles or 65000kms but can even last upto 80000 miles) depending upon the driving style of the driver and chemical constitution of the brake pads. And these brake pads have brake pads wear indicators mentioned in the service manual, according to which they are supposed to be changed, or you see signs of brake pad squealing or improper/impaired braking force, never by age. That is why even Audi/Skoda's brand new brake pads don't have a expiry date or use before date printed on them. I think you need to get your facts checked.

I don't need to get my facts or experience checked, I need to stop here.

Hey guys, I have a 2016 Superb diesel which has recently started consuming coolant at an alarming level. In the last 1000 kms I had to add about 1.5 litres of coolant, 500ml each time. I have observed that this happens mostly after highway drives where the speed is constantly near 90-100 kmph.

Car was recently serviced at Garve Skoda and they did not find any leaks.

Any suggestions on how to get this issue fixed?

So I got a ABS/ESC Error message on my dash recently -

and this topic details how I solved it by Replacing the car's Left Front ABS sensor myself and saved 6000 bucks in the process -

Maybe pipe leakage or worse, thermostat failure - hope you've got it diagnosed and fixed.

I had the car diagnosed at ASC but there are currently no issues as per them. Also, there is absolutely no issues with coolant while daily driving in the city. I have driven it more than 1500 kms in the last month but the coolant level stayed the same. However, if I drive it on highways with constant speed of over 90kmph then it will throw an error after 300 odd kms or sometimes after 600 kms. This is a weird issue so I keep 2 litres of coolant in the boot at all times.

I have followed your reviews for many years, as a fellow Skoda Superb & Corolla owner. I noticed your car is up for sale on Olx, and am curious to see what's next!

I also noticed that your car's picture and registration plate are being used in another used car listing on Olx that might be fake/a scam. In fact, the picture might just be lifted from Team BHP.

I see.
Separate from the DTC error code, after those highway drives, does the coolant level deplete/reduce ? If it does, there is a coolant leak problem, which can be a big repair depending on where and what all is damaged. Please pursue with A.S.S. (or outside VAG specialists) if coolant level does go down. All the best.

Yes, I had it checked and there was a coolant leak which has been fixed. They also found an oil leak for which the parts have been ordered. I am checking the oil level daily before taking the car out but oil level is at maximum level while the parking floor shows oil is still leaking. Not sure how the oil level stays the same while there is a leak.

Maybe I’ll find out when the parts arrive at ASC and everything is fixed.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Ok, good to hear coolant leak is fixed. Observe carefully over some period of driving. For the oil leak, hope you're checking oil after the engine is switched off, and cooled down. Wipe the dipstick to recheck the level. You maybe able to estimate how many ml leaking based on what you see on the floor. Superb has ~5l of oil depending on engine, so 50ml a day, may require 10-15 days to show up on the dipstick ?

Attached a pic for reference, this is in the last 7 days.

I am checking every morning before I start the car. Yes, I wipe the dipstick and then check. Hopefully, the parts arrive at ASC before I see any dip in oil level.

This car is for sale ONLY for the specific reason that only 2 years are left for the 15 years NCR rule to kick in otherwise I would never part with this beauty worth 50 lacs today (new).

Regards and Cheers...

I have followed the journey of your car closely and even after all these years, it still looks pristine. This 15-year rule is draconian in this respect not letting us NCR folks hold on to these timeless beauties. :/

Sadly the car got sold and picked up by the buyer today. Only because of the stupid 15 years NCT rule -

Only redeeming point was that the buyers were TeamBhp following enthusiasts. Hope they will love and maintain this beauty as I did.

Farewell... Cheers
