55k for a car costing 1000k INR is actually quite cost-effective.

Having said that, this is when quite a few expensive components start to show their age and while I hope you dont face any of that given Bangalore's moderate climate and your driving style, I will keep a close check on your thread from now on.

That said, which Co do you plan to go for, for your insurance renewals to?

No idea, I always go with what dealer suggests. Will update when the renewal comes up.

Eighth anniversary checkin Continues to be smooth sailing. 8th year service is a major one (Rs 85K includes transmission fluid change and rear brake pad replacement). Insurance: Rs 27K.

The materials used in this car age extremely well. Full credit to Mercedes. Look at the driver's seat bolster and steering grip after 8 years and 60K km. The car has never received any interior cleaning. (my no#1 instruction to the service centre is not to touch the interiors - they do more damage than good). I just vacuum and wipe-off with a damp cloth. Never polished the exterior also.

Those interiors just look awesome.
Especially for 8 years of family use and DD.

Way better than the BMWs and Skodas, whose interiors just wear out and go sticky in a few years usage.
Or maybe it's just coastal humidity VS Bengaluru's awesome climate.

Wish for more awesome kilometres, though curious to know whether the S is a keeper or gonna upgrade soon, and what will be the upgrade when it happens.

A combination of factors I think. Good choice of materials, Bangalore weather, garage parked and owner-driven. My experience with BMW 5 series, Skoda Laura is not this good under similar conditions. Credit must to go to Mercedes - the leather is just the right type, not too soft (like Nappa in some Volvo cars) and not too hard (common among EU cars). Almost all buttons (seat adjustment, window switches, AC and infotainment) have metal touch surfaces.

Have already sold my one kidney for this 'make it large' purchase My next decent car shall be a gift from my children whose education is funded by my wife.
