Quite a few authorized service centers have tie ups with 3M and Wurth. They say its OEM approved and push these services. I know someone whose Vento got interior and AC cleaning included by mentioning it is mandatory and part of service schedule.

Lack of awareness is a big avenue for these guys to make money.

Every single time I take the car for service, I clearly mentioned that I do not need any additional work and any unauthorised work done, the service advisor will be made to pay for it. They give up once I state this condition.

If you take time and prepare the sheet of what is to be done and specify at the outset that you will only pay for approved costs, then there will be no fight.

3m, Wurth have tie ups across almost all dealerships. They are given targets too and the dealer do take a cut in the billing. No wonder they push these a bit too much.

One such experience was that the service advisor pushing that interior cleaning and AC Vent foam is part of mandatory service for a Vento, the dealer is Whitefield VW. My friend, completely unaware of the actual schedule happily went and paid for the job which was below even acceptable levels.

Billing is one thing and actually filling it is another. I guess you know what I meant

Pretty sure the bulbs from True Sai motors are fake, since one of the bulbs from the new set has conked off in another 2k km as well.

Perhaps its time to play around with LEDs.

Been a long time since I took the Punto out on leisure drives, hence went for a slightly longer dinner drive yesterday night. Destination - Empire Restaurant, Kunigal.

Some pics after a long time -

Looks clean, but actually is dirty since we encountered heavy rain on the way -

It's good to see your Punto going strong at 1,65,000km. I like to come to this thread every now and then to see the pictures of your Punto. I have a soft spot for white 90HP MJD Puntos because I used to own one (my first car, will never forget it ). Had I not shifted out of India, I would probably still have had it - somewhere close to the 1L mark on the odo. Hope you have many more happy moments with your Punto.

I bought that same Waxpol but am way too lazy, I ordered it very promptly and now it just lies in my desk drawer. Please let me know how easy or difficult it is to use. Nowadays even car cleaners are reluctant to do this job cause they know it's hard work.

Thank you. I very much enjoy your Octavia combi photos as well.

Meanwhile, a random pic from the office parking. Didn't take it to post in the thread, but after reading your post - thought let it be here anyways. Atleast I can look back at all these after a couple of years.

Waxpol is yet to arrive. I'll give my feedback over the next weekend, hopefully. Here's the reason why I went ahead and ordered the Waxpol though -

This was done by a younger me though, most of it applied on the car during the 2013 to 2016 period. The 3M shop owner who sold it to me had challenged me saying it can't be finished off, but somehow managed to do it. Been lazy afterwards and shifted to liquid wax. Not sure if I can get back to the painful old methods, and hence ordered the smaller tin of Waxpol.

Incase you want to give it a shot, try out Meguairs Ultimate Quick Wax. No effort required - just spray on and wipe off. Ofcourse, the results are not comparable to paste wax either, but it still gives a decent shine for a couple of days.

Loving it, though the pain is real!

Very nice... How much time and effort did it take?

Very difficult work. Took around two and a half hours non-stop to get it done. Meguairs Tech Wax which I had earlier was also easier than this, even though it was a paste wax as well.

Waxpol is so solid, its difficult to even get a layer on the applicator pad.

But anyways - Happy with the result. Let's see how long lasts.

Got a chance to check the water beading effect due to heavy rains in Bangalore today. Drove around 20 kms in heavy rain, with mud getting splashed quite a few times.

The result -

Bonnet remains clean. One truck had splashed a good amount of slush till the windshield -

Closer look at the door panels -

Water droplets on the mirrors -

Specially like how the lower parts behind the wheel wells remain clean even after driving around in heavy rain. Nice -

PS - Please ignore the small scratches, specially on the mirror. Can't help it on our roads!

I've been using Waxpol products for over 10-years and I'm satisfied with their products. They are on the cheaper side too (vis-a-vis the Meguiars) and I had waxed my car about a month ago and was satisfied with the results. The water bead effect is good too. But this doesn't last long in this season though. Here are some pics from my end :
