Thank you. Had a chance to park next to an Ertiga at office. Looks like the wheel wells of the Punto are much more accommodating -

That is good to hear. So. My 195 65 suffered a puncture last month and then I realised that the OE Jack won't lift the car to an extent that wheel is rotating freely despite of proper placement of Jack on a fully flat and levelled surface at my parking at home.

Thanks to the increased sidewall height, I then had to use a wooden block to lift up the car a little more.

After this I carry a small block as part of the jack kit .

I've given up on fixing the spare wheel!

Had a very bad day when I had a puncture at office parking - discovered this around 9:30pm, used the jack to lift up the car, tried to loosen the wheels but instead the L spanner broke into two after loosening up two wheels. Worst of all - sent a friend to the shop to discover they just closed a couple of minutes back and I could have use their services if I only I had not played around.

So nowadays I carry the portable compressor everywhere, and just plan to fill up air and drive to the nearby shop. Tyre replacement is only in the worst case scenario.

There's more to it. I wanted to fix the puncture without removing the wheel. I successfully located the nail and removed it and blocked the hole. But look at the angle of the nail. I could no way fix a puncture in this position given that there was not much space for me to do anything. Even if I had managed to remove the wheel I could not satisfactorily fix it. So I attempted to remove the wheel and fixed it.

Have used 195/65 R15 on my brother in laws punto which was used by me for around a year before selling it off.

Ride quality was excellent with the wheels no scraping or anything.

Tyres were Yokohama Earth 1's and car was a 2009 model Punto 1.4 petrol emotion pack.

Exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you.

2009 means it should have been the lower GC model too? So I guess it should run even better on mine with the raised suspenion.

Yours being with raised suspension should be even better.

My BILs 2014 Punto runs on 195/65 with Earth 1 tyres, before the replacement it was running on same section Yoko S drives.

I am using it for a year now in his absence and I feel the ride is very good and I enjoy taking corners on these. No issue on tyres touching anywhere.

BTW I have not ridden Punto with the stock tyre set up at all.

Thanks KK.

Yours and sheldon4888's post seals the deal. I'm going for 195/65R15 too, mostly Michelin P3ST / P4ST as per availability. Should be going ahead with the change next month.

Do you want to also check out MRF Perfinzas, which are available at this size. Heard good reviews on them too. Price wise it may not be too behind the P3STs, may be a couple of hundreds lesser that's it.

Wanted to try out the Michelins since ages. During the first tyre change - Went with Yoko AVS dB as it offered more VFM, ran it for 48k kms. Then went ahead with Continental MC5 for the same reason, and now it has done 72k kms.

So yeah - the Michelin thing has waited for 1.2L kms now.

Perfinzas next up, if god permits.

I felt that the brake pads had a little more life left in them, but got it replaced incase a long drive is needed during the year end season - before which the tyres will be replaced as well. While checking the brake pads, SA pointed out the disc which had formed steps on the surface. Took second opinion from one of the trusted guys at Vecto and got the discs replaced as well.

Weirdly enough though - there were sounds during braking during the test trials, twice, and Vecto seem to require three sessions to get the brakes fixed and running without noises.

I had already ordered Osram 100/90 Ralleye bulbs thinking the issue was with the bulbs, so after the holder issue was fixed - changed both the bulbs as well! Hopefully, that should be all the maintenance required for another 10k kms.
