Re: A thin line between genius and insanity- FIAT Grande Punto 90HP - Now 1 year, 30k

Do I need to type something?

Or the below photo with such mischievous smileys will prove to be self explanatory?

Congrats CD for the chip, finally I see one more 90hp with it - please do share your views about it , I can very well understand you would be super excited.

OT: Your coolant is below is the normal level, add water or get it topped up with the mixture.

Thanks guys!

Coolant is already taken care of! Had service yesterday where they replaced all liquids. However, coolant levels will settle down after some running in - and thats why its low in the above pic. However - sometime after the pic was taken - we corrected it with water.

And yes - its the dual channel. They seemed to have decided on this electric blue colour for dual channel box, compared to the carbon fibre look for the original.

Btw, few pics from the detailing session yesterday - taken by nkrishnap.

They say you must not leave your car at the service centre. They say you must stand near it when it is being serviced. I did better this time, and went along with nkrishnap. That made sure everything goes perfect.

All fluids were changed, we specifically told them not to wash (Was going to 3M anyways!), car was ready and out before noon. Nothing more or less to comment, other than that it was prompt.

Brake pads need replacement, but seems like it would last another 3k kms easily! Total bill came to 8.5 k+ (Remember 30k is a major service!), but yes - thats comparable with Maruti levels and way below other European brands.

Major contributors are -

1. FIAT Diesel engine Synthetic (?) Oil 5W40 - 3.2L - 1903.23/-
2. Coolant 1L Paraflu - 1222.71/-
3. Transmission Oil 1L Synthetic - 875/-
4. Power Steering Oil 1L Synthetic - 427.95/-
5. Brake Oil - 169/-
6. Fuel Filter Diesel - 1798/-
7. Air Filter - 296/-
8. Windscreen wash - 78.60/-

Not to forget VAT which came to 1101/-

Did not do many long trips in the past 10k kms. All running has been limited to the south.
A thin line between genius and insanity - Fiat Grande Punto 90HP - 2,00,000 km up! Edit: Sold-30k.jpg

Some figures from FuelLog, calculated for the past 4733 kms.

Total Mileage - 4733.
Total Fuel - 313.45L.
Total Fuel Costs - INR 16260/-
Period of Registered fill-ups - 56 days.

Average fuel costs per km - 3.12/-

Best F.E - 19.33 kmpl/-
Average F.E - 16.7 kmpl/-
Worst F.E - 15.13 kmpl/-

Note - Best FE figure is not really the best since i have got 23 earlier during a highway run earlier.

Few more (mobile cam) pics from the detailing session last weekend. Pics dont do justice since its a white car.

Will put it once I have logged some 500+ kms. Unfortunately - dyno needs to wait since I have gone bankrupt for the next few months as well.

I read it in the RD thread. The first dual channel RD i20 - Congrats. I got it installed from Chetan at the RD facility itself.

Didn't see you posting any initial impressions though! Waiting.

Recommend Interval to change Coolant/Transmission Oil/Power Steering oil is 2 years or 60K kms for Fiats and not 30K.

True. The cost of 3rd service would be even lesser.

We asked them to proceed with all fluids change. Personally - I wanted everything in good condition before the RD box went in. I'm still a bit scared with the reliability - due to my high daily running + long term usage plan for this car.

Well i havent had a chance to test the box extensively on a long trip. Havent been on a long trip after fitting the box.

In P1 mode the low end has improved noticeably. Its possible to now plotter in 3rd gear where as before the box i would have to downshift to 2nd. FE has gone up by approx 1kmpl in city driving. Have not had a change to test the P2 mode fully.

That is what is keeping me away from a RD box for my 2010 Pre remap Linea
My primary usage is on highways, and i never felt the need for more power.
Pre remapped linea's have more grunt in higher RPM's,it pulls pretty well till 4K RPM in 5th gear.

Re: A thin line between genius and insanity- FIAT Grande Punto 90HP - Now 1 year, 30k

Have started a seperate thread for the RD experiences -

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...unto-90hp.html

Meanwhile, a/c cooling has reduced noticeably over the past few days, and it became unbearable yesterday. At higher speeds - the blower was throwing hot air into the cabin (With ACC set to 18 degrees). However, while returning back home at night - I set blower to 2 and temperature to 27.5 - it was throwing nice cool air!

Action plan for next week then!

In other news - she is still looking fresh even after covering around 500kms after the detailing session. Wiping dust off the car before parking at night seems to be working magic! That too - with my old damaged Jopasu.

Went ahead and ordered new duster + mini - duster combo!

Hi Crazy Driver...

I happen to notice that the cost of 1L Coolant is Rs. 1222.71.
Now how is this possible ? I've purchased 1L of coolant from Concorde Motors and it costs just Rs. 175 per litre. I still have that bottle with me. Or have you just mistyped it ?

My bad. Thanks for pointing it out. You are right.

Its 177.29 per litre (including VAT) * 8 litres = INR 1222.71.

And yes - technically - it should have been 7.6 litres instead of 8 litres.
