Not that much.

Trivandrum -> Bangalore

Bangalore -> Chikmagalure -> Bangalore one day drive.
Bangalore -> Trivandrum drive now.

Thats all. Speaking of which, would you be knowing anyone who has retrofitted cruise control in the Punto?

Nothing. Infact, the car has been reliable with zero issues reported since the 45k mark. So I guess I will just stick to the regular 90k service.

Tyres need to be changes, yes. They were last changed at 48k kms. Guess the Yokos should last another 3-4k kms more.

re: A thin line between genius and insanity - Fiat Grande Punto 90HP - 2,00,000 km up! Edit: Sold

90,000 kms milestone comes up in 3 years and 30 days (1125 days) @ 80 kms/day.

The last 10k kms were covered in 115 days.

A thin line between genius and insanity - Fiat Grande Punto 90HP - 2,00,000 km up! Edit: Sold-img_3092.jpg

Service Experience #15 - Scheduled Service@ 90,000 kms.
Service Satisfaction - ***1/2
Service Centre - Vecto Motors, Bangalore.

Some points deducted for the enthusiastic SA who tried to push the 60k service schedule (which includes replacement of all fluids). It is another story that I would have opted for it anyways.

No issues with the car except for a blown parking bulb which was replaced. The test drive by the service adviser also showed some minor squeal from the rear brakes and hence they were cleaned as well. Apart from that, all fluids were changed and the car was returned within 3 hours.

Paid Service Charges - 1630/-
Engine Oil - 1920/-
Oil Filter - 411/-
Air Filter - 410/-
Fuel Filter - 2059/-

Cabin Air Filter - 210/-
Transmission Oil - 1150/-
Brake fluid - 199.50/-
Coolant - 1125/-
Power Steering Oil - 550/-

Parking Bulb - 39/-
Rear Brake Drum Cleaning - 380/-

Also, was charged Rs 350/- for the diagnostic test. Now, this one skipped my mind that time. Is this mandatory for the regular service? Or did I just pay for my ignorance?

The good part is that the car feels smooth after the service.

Tyres

The current set of Yokohama AVS Db has been doing duty since the 48k mark and still looks good to have a decent 2k - 3k life left on them. Not even a single puncture till date. So I've decided to live with it till they wear out, even though the ride quality makes me cringe everytime it goes through a series of potholes.

Insurance

Renewed with Royal Sundaram for zero dep plan. Dont think any company would be offering zero dep next year!

I don't think the diagnostic test is part of the regular service. It should be done if a problem requires investigation.

Also, I've never got brake cleaning done from them even though they keep pushing for it.

Btw, are you still running on the stock clutch ?

Just what I thought on the diagnostic test. Should have kept my eyes (and brain) open!

Stock clutch and I think it will go a bit more. No juddering / slip noticed with it till now.

Diagnostic test is the biggest hoax pulled of by the service stations in India. Some of the Maruti one's do it too, No check engine light and if the car seems fine, absolutely no need for all this.

Infact the guys at Ravi Automobiles, Ghatkopar which is an Authorized Maruti Service station where I give my car for regular replacements, whenever an error code has come in my car for some minute fault, have removed it for absolutely free. I once asked those guys 'How much for this error code removal' ? And he looked at me strangely and said 'NOTHING'.

Does the user manual of linea deisel and punto 90 hp mention periodic replacement of timing chain at 60000 km? I saw a linea manual on internet and it only mentions auxiliary drive belt and accessory drive belt replacement at 60000 kms. Can you please post a pic of your owners manuals page mentioning timing chain replacement?

Hi fireblade,

In my linea MJD's manual, the ' * ' indicates that " regardless of the km covered, the timing belt shall be replaced every 4 years for particularly demanding use (cold climates, driving in the city, idling for a long time) or in any case every 5 years. " This would be the same for punto 90 as it shares the same engine of linea.

Regards,
Umesh

Bharati Axa offers zero dep for car till 5 years of ownership. You can think of it provided the Insurer has a cashless tie up with Bangalore workshops.

Thank you for posting this - I have given my car for 4th year service at KHT today and while estimating the charges, they quoted 1900 plus taxes as service charge. I promptly pointed them to this and said I will talk to the works manager when the service is done.

KHT said they will charge INR 200 towards consumables - did Vecto charge something like this?

I guess others have already cleared the confusion on this.

Thank you. Didnt know about this. I thought companies offered only till 4 years of ownership. Will check about the cashless tie up.

Thank you!

One more doubt (should have posted this as a part of earlier query) - the cost you have posted - are they with tax or without tax?

With tax.

For example, oil filter was Rs 358.95/- and came upto 411 after adding 14.5% VAT. Final bill came to Rs 11024/- all inclusive.
