Yes the adapter improves the stability, especially on the turns otherwise. Have them on my Thar also.

Initially, with the power being addictive (at the lower rev range), I tended to go heavy on the pedal - resulting in the fuel efficiency dropping to single digits.

However, once I got over these boyish thrills and started driving with a sedate foot (taking full advantage of the excellent low-end torque), 12 km/l on the highways has been common.
Within the city of course, considering Bangalore's inimitable traffic, the average seldom crosses 9 km/l.

It has been almost 4 years and my Jeep has completed 25,000 km
I thought it was high time I indulged him in an oil bath (pun intended)

I sourced all the required lubricants from brick & mortar stores; I am somehow not comfortable with e-portals for automobile accessories/parts!
For the engine - Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40; for the gear-box and differentials - Mobilube GX 80W-90 and for the transfer case - Mobil ATF 220

The ugly side of India Garage surfaced when they refused to use lubricants sourced from outside; with a frivolous excuse that Mahindra would object to non-standard lubes being used!
My contention that my oil was far superior to Mahindra specifications and my Jeep was anyway out of warranty, fell on deaf ears.
I realized that the margins made by ASCs on oil sales was the determining factor.They were not keen on billing just the 'labour cost'!

Anyway, after scouting around for alternatives, I decided to head back to Chrome Motors on Mysore Road.
All the lubricants were drained, oil/diesel filters and air cleaner element removed and replaced with new ones.
And yes, in went the entire range of Mobil oils!

The entire service was carried out in one of the 'Express Service' jigs and completed in 90 minutes flat!
To give Chrome Motors credit, the Service Advisor and Mechanic were thoroughly professional and excellent.
I don't think I will step into India Garage Bangalore again in a hurry!
India Garage's loss is Chrome Motor's gain!

Coming to the Jeep, the change is enormous.
Gone is the gruff sounding truck-like engine, it is more like a purring cat!
And the gear-shifts have become very slick, almost car-like!

The total cost of service came close to Rs. 11k, expensive no doubt.
But the feel of Mobil lubes flowing through the veins, is priceless!

No, I have stated it right, it is Mobil Delvac1 5W/40
It is the equivalent of Mobil1 0W/40 for meant heavy-duty diesel engines; for regular diesel engines (cars), the same Mobil1 0W/40 may be used!

I had them made through a source in Bangalore, if you are interested, I can patch you two! However, I understand the prices have shot up (for the Thar at least), close to 15k!
