Please check that as it is worth it to have, especially in our conditions. Also, I hope your wheels come fastened with those special security bolts and nuts?

The AMC is a five year 100,000 km BSI Ultimate package which includes all services, labor and consumables. It also includes all brake pads and discs. It further gives an extended warranty upto the 5 Y / 100,000 km limit.
Well, I did go in for zero depreciation insurance to ensure I don't have nasty surprises. As far as special security bolts and nuts - is this what you are referring to? I frankly did not pay attention to this while buying or even until now that you have brought it up.

Do check the fine print and whether the insurance covers possible damage to the alloys. Those security nuts should be easily available if they are not given as standard. Worth checking with the beemer experts there! To open them in order to change the wheel, you will need a special key, so that the average rogue cannot wolf your lovely wheels when you aren't looking!

Congratulations on your awesome dream upgrade!

The wheel rims can be covered under insurance in case of damage, not under BSI. Also the security bolts have been discontinued long time back. No longer available on any BMW's.

Look forward to your updates, enjoy the ride!

Re: My very own Vermillion Red BMW 320d

Hey guys, as promised am attaching some more pics. Hope you enjoy. Although, I regret not carrying a tripod and some are not as crisp as I would have wanted them.

Also, have shown the economy since I got the car. It shows 8l / 100 km = 12.5 kmpl though I have noticed an upward bias of approx. 5% and hence the economy is actually closer to 12 kmpl. Not bad, eh?

Re: My very own Vermillion Red BMW 320d

Congrats Elantracrdi05 on your lovely purchase. The best part is the color. Its just right for the car, neither too bright or in your face red kind. I have driven BMWs in US and found there sticking to tarmac nature just unbelievable. Though setup is definitely tad hard but in general i think NCR roads are fairly good and better than most other cities in India so you wont find it too jarring in regular drives.

Btw I have always wondered how does it feel driving an expensive car in India like BMWs/mercs/audis ? I think i would be little over paranoid with everyone trying to side scrape you on the roads

Re: My very own Vermillion Red BMW 320d

It is theeeeeeeeeeee driver's car. Very nice writeup, especially that Labrador thing

1. You can go to

BMW Bluetooth interface : Introduction

Select any country, since India is not in the menu, -> your VIN no -> your phone model -> the functions that your phone supports with the car.

I was surprised to see that my iPhone 4 did not support the text function. Too bad, I guess!

2. You can change the units for display on the iDrive, from settings, for an easier/accurate fuel consumption figure in kmpl.

Anyways, it was clear that you were all jumping around the car during delivery. Totally allowed and unacceptable if you weren't!

Forget everything else and cherish your ride!

Re: My very own Vermillion Red BMW 320d

Super review of a very nice car! All straight from the heart, it showed in your writing. Also, I saw this red colour for the first time, all that I have seen was white and black BMW's. I guess, one of the true driver's cars indeed!! Congrats on the purchase

Re: My very own Vermillion Red BMW 320d

Sweet rims... always liked them. You certainly need black 3D Kagu floor mats though. The current ones are destroying the interior.

Impressive average speed and FE. Do you stay on one end of Buddh straight and work at the other?

Re: My very own Vermillion Red BMW 320d

Congrats on your new buy. It is one of the fantastic write up i have read in the recent.
Hi-five to your wife on understanding the happiness of you and should be proud of it.

It is an inspiring write up...from Santro --> a melon Elantra --> 320d.

I moved like Zen ---> a melon Accent CRDi --> i20 CRDi (looking forward to BMW by 2020).

Thanks for sharing and have a very long miles with smile.

Re: My very own Vermillion Red BMW 320d

Congrats on your german girlfriend. I'm sure your wife MUST have already taunted you for spending more time with her.
Your color choice is awesome. Never seen BMW look soooo.. gooood.. The road presence of this car must be eye-popping.

I have never liked those transparent mats, IMO they look cheap. Sorry but that's my personal view.
Secondly I would suggest you get some STANLEY on those seats. As you mentioned earlier that you clock almost 20-25k annully, dirtied seats can make a nice car look bad.
Sometime down the line you can get those alloys painted matt-black & she will become too hot to handle.

Drive safe bro.

Raab rakha.

I agree about the mats. KAGU mats, or even much cheaper packy poda mats in black will look better.

Stanley? But these seats are pretty high quality leather and being white they will get dirty. But I suggest that detailing be done twice a year to the interior, where the leather is steam cleaned etc. Will make it look brand new.

As for alloys, gunmetal/graphite will look crazy with this red. Now I'm wishing I had got the red colour.

Re: My very own Vermillion Red BMW 320d

Nice ownership review there. Your write up style made it even better. I liked the choice of color; something which is not common on a BMW. Hope you have a million trouble free miles in this out and out driver's car.
