re: The White Knight - My Toyota Etios Liva Diesel. 25000 kms update

Congrats on the Liva.

A couple of things, you can add on to the car is the fog lamps, though it is not as bright as you wish, but has some seriously good spread. Definitely enchances visibility in the rain.

Upgrade the bulbs to 100/90 set up with a relay and ceramic holder and the plug and play wiring.

Enjoy many more happy miles with the Liva.

Thanks mate!
The fog lamps you get from Toyota doesn't come with Halogen! Thats the reason why their aren't so powerful. A friend of mine has installed those very powerful Blue-white lights for both headlamps and fog lamps! The light is blinding! The headlamps costs 15k while the fog lamps are some where around 7K !
Thought of installing those lights in mine as they would match the car's color but, those lights are an absolute nightmare for other drivers. I think the stock headlamps are powerful enough! Its much more brighter than my Santro's !

My major concern is the horn , which i'll be replacing this weekend!

re: The White Knight - My Toyota Etios Liva Diesel. 25000 kms update

DAY 11:
ODO: 246kms
Fuel: only 2 points down out of the 8 (186kms since i filled up the tank)

Was searching for shops to change the horn but, couldn't find any!
Will be fitting the horns either tomorrow or day after.

The fuel efficiency is astonishing!
Will be calculating the F.E in a day or two.

re: The White Knight - My Toyota Etios Liva Diesel. 25000 kms update

Got the Full Floor mats and the new Horns installed today. With the monsoon season nearing, I thought that this was the right time to install the waterproof mats!
Did the installations at Adamjee Car Accessories , GP road, Royapettah.
Took about 2 hours to fit the floor mats and about 15 minutes to install the Horns.

Floor mat ( including boot) - Rs.1800 /-
Roots Windtone90 Horn with
relay & changeover switch- Rs.1150 /-

The original horn sucks big time! It's so weak, even cyclists wont move when you honk. The Roots windtone horn ( Skoda type) are much powerful plus, I got 6 months warranty!

Here are some of the pics i took during the installation!

re: The White Knight - My Toyota Etios Liva Diesel. 25000 kms update

Here are two videos which i shot today.
the first one is comparing the Stock horn with the Roots Windtone horn that i installed yesterday.
The second video is about the cabin noise. The Cabin noise is actually acceptable, not as bad as people say but, can't compare it with the Skoda's and Volkswagen's NVH !

Horn Comparison(with windows rolled down)

1st one is the Stock Horn and the 2nd one is the Roots horn. Sorry, wasn't able to honk much inside the apartment on a sunday afternoon!

Cabin Noise with windows rolled up.

Took this pic while they were fixing the number plate! A little of editing though!

re: The White Knight - My Toyota Etios Liva Diesel. 25000 kms update

Got the first scratch! :(
A lancer's wing mirror brushed on my Liva's wing mirror leaving a big scratch!
Unfortunately, the Liva's mirror comes in body color but the Lancer's mirror were black, plastic ones. Couldn't do much about it, that guy disappeared into the traffic!
The Mirrors are kind of wide and also , the Liva is as wide as the Etios so, they tend to get bruised or scratched in heavy traffic!

Thank you saadat1992 for your post. I am a newcomer to T-BHP, though had been following the forum for quite a long while. Your great review and the thread was a catalyst in choosing my new car, Liva GD, which should be delivered anytime next week.
Should be exchanging notes and thanks again!

Congrats on your new Liva!
I'm glad that my review helped you choose the Liva GD!
You made the right choice! In the current scenario, liva is a great VFM car!
Welcome to the Toyota family!
Do put up your buying experience and initial ownership after you take delivery of your Liva!
And , by the way where have you booked your Liva? What Color?

Saadat, like you, I have also chosen white. Found that the car looks majestic best in Black, but I wouldn't go for it because of certain superstitions.
The next best is probably the beautiful blue they have, but the dealer said I'll have to wait for 30-45 days for that color, which is supposedly much in demand.
Didn't quite like the vermelion red and the last car I had (still have) is silver and I wanted to change now. White is beautiful.
Surely, I'll post about my possession once I get the car delivered (hopefully mid-next week). I booked the car at Topsel Toyota, Kolkata. Had no other choice -- they are the only dealer here.

re: The White Knight - My Toyota Etios Liva Diesel. 25000 kms update

Oh, i chose the White because it's kind of easier to maintain than the black.
But, i find white a bit difficult to maintain. I absolutely loved the blue but, mom and dad were against it. So, had to go in for the white which I personally feel is the best color for the Etios & the Liva.

Only one dealer? That's sad! We have about 2 dealers( Harsha & Lanson ) and 6 showrooms in Chennai. So, we get to choose the dealer! :P

re: The White Knight - My Toyota Etios Liva Diesel. 25000 kms update

18-08-2012

One month over. Got the first free service done. Odo reads 708kms.
Only wiper fluid was changed, was charged Rs.55/-
The mileage calculated comes around 17.9Kmpl. I think that's a good mileage because, half the time the car is stuck in 1st-2nd gear traffic, thanks to the Metro rail work going on all over the city!.
Haven't taken the car out of the city so far. Planning an out station trip next month!

Hey saadat!
I got my Liva D a bit before yours and I am loving it as well!
The colour is Serene Bluish Silver, and I am truly unleashing the powerof diesel.
Got it on the 2nd of July. Evident from the fact that just touched 3300 today, on the 52nd day of ownership.
Dealer in Gurgaon gave me discount of 10k + accessories worth 10k. Got the wooden panel and fog lamps. For the ICEing, I got the pioneer 3350 BT separately. Has been giving a steady mileage of 18.2 in city (Delhi to Gurgaon traffic in office timing is horrible. The toll itself takes almost half an hour). Also took a short trip to Jaipur and the average for the trip was 19.5, again including the city driving in Jaipur. Pure highway mileage must be higher. Enjoying a whooping 4-5k saving monthly on my fuel bills from my earlier Swift VXi

Hi Hamlet!
Good to see another Liva Lover-Owner ! The car is an absolute bliss to drive on the highways. The car just cruises along even at speeds of 110-120. You cant really feel it unlike my Old Santro Xing which gets bouncy when you go above 90kmph.
The fuel consumption too is amazing! Its been a month and a half and i have refilled only once! .
But, i used to spend close to 11k for my santro every month just for petrol. Thanks to Liva, my monthly 5 digit fuel bills have reduced 10 fold.

re: The White Knight - My Toyota Etios Liva Diesel. 25000 kms update

Went to Pondicherry yesterday!. Didn't take the ECR. Took the much safer 4 lane Chennai - Dindivanam - Pondicherry NH-45/NH-66 route. Had so much fun driving the Liva.
The Highway stability is awesome. The best part is the mileage! Returned an average of 24kmpl with A/C on and a constant 100 - 110kmph driving.
It was raining and the single wiper was surprisingly effective!

Only two problems faced on the Highways:
1. Road noise! Initially i felt that it was the engine that got stressed out but it was the road noise that filtered into the cabin. So, most probably will be getting the 3M under body coating done in a month.
2. The engine has adequate torque but, lacks outright power. The engine needs to be worked had and the throttle needs to be pinned down to get to 140+Kmph. The engine kind of struggles after 110. This is actually strange because, a friend of mine who also owns a Liva diesel says that he managed a whooping 160kmph with 5 people and luggage in the car.

Overall, the highway experience was awesome and the mileage surely put a smile on my face!

Here are a couple of pics that i took en route to Pondicherry.
