A common problem faced by us Liva owners is $$ For the interest of Liva owners is the lack of weather seal on Liva doors causes lot of dust to settle on the door frame. In my case on two occasions a lizard was hiding in the gap and when I opened the door, it jumped inside the car. It took a hell lot of effort to get it out.
A month ago was browsing through Ali Express and came across this:-

The item is available at below link:-
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4M-Z...608.0.0.Zd4vbJ

Ordered it and was delivered within one month. No additional duties paid.

Installed it yesterday and the results are very good.
Thanks a lot for sharing. Can you please share more detailed snaps?

Major update:

An update after what seems to be an eternity. The car went through the 50k service recently and all 4 tyres were changed due to excessive wear & tear.
The tyres have been upgraded to 185 sections and the car feels as good as new after these upgrades and service.

Changed the stock 175/65 R14 to 185/65 R14 Goodyear Assurance triplemax ones.

The 50k service though had certain issues. They had given me free 3M interior and exterior cleaning for renewing the smiles package. They rectified the exhaust pipe noise issue that I had pointed out, however they hadn't rectified the security system issue. So when I was checking the car prior to the delivery, I was shocked to see they hadn't filled the coolant up. It was well below low level & when I asked the SA about it, he said it was 'normal'. Normal my foot! I told he should stop with all this BS and asked if this was what the service was all about, he apologized and immediately brought a bottle of coolant and filled it up to the rim. They then got the people from accessories and 'fixed' the security system issue by removing the switch from the bonnet and gave another bad reason saying it won't be a problem. And despite all this, the SA had the audacity to ask me for a 5 star rating.

Totally dissatisfied, I drove back home to find that they had not changed the brake pads either -_-

What has Harsha Toyota's service come to? They're definitely damaging the reputation of Toyota by doing a shoddy job. I'm planning to write to TKM regarding this, if nothing goes my way with Harsha, I'll have to switch to Lanson.

Your post made me check my coolant level and shocking enough, found them at the low level marking. Wrote to TKM and they promptly called. Will get it done.

Also bro, you should've opted for the Michelins and upgraded to R15s. Missed opportunity!

An Update after what seems to be an eternity:

The car clocked the 60k mark somewhere this week. I've been away from the forum & the car for quite sometime as my work has me occupied and my driving has come down by 90%.

The White Knight - My Toyota Etios Liva Diesel. EDIT: 70,000 kms update-1504832885854.jpg

Also, the car seemed to have developed a bearing issue in the front left wheel. The bearing is shattered & we're waiting for parts to arrive from Toyota. Apparently, this is a part that doesn't wear off easily & Harsha Toyota doesn't stock up these.

Couple of months ago, a moron in a Fabia rear ended me in a signal at slow speeds. The result: Bumper went in & got impaled in the screws that hold the rear frame. I managed to fix it myself using the good old method of hot water + plunger. Bumper is back in its place but, the screw damage stays.

re: The White Knight - My Toyota Etios Liva Diesel. EDIT: 70,000 kms update

I am Owning a Liva VXD 2017, 25k kms on meter, but i am not happy with the fuel effeciency. I am getting around 17-18 kmpl without A/c on highways and 15-16 kmpl with A/c. Checked with toyota at 10k service they also quoted 15.5kmpl in first turn and around 16.3 kmpl in second. During the 20k service they clocked 25+ kmpl. Thought it might be possible after service FE may get better but still after 5k kms I am not experincing any improvements.

Any leads what can be done for getting a better FE?
Thanks

Hello everyone,

I've come back to teambhp after a very long hiatus of over a year. The car too wasn't given good care as I was busy with work and other things.

Meanwhile, the car's AC and Horn had gone bust in the recent months and I had to get it all fixed to have the car up and running again.

The AC issue:
The AC's cooling coil went for a toss and on enquiring with Toyota, they quoted 16k for cooling coil replacement, gas filling, filter change and a few other changes. And an additional 4-5k for the fan motor which had developed an extremely bad vibration whenever it turned on.

Many of my friends suggested that I get this issue sorted out with an AC mechanic instead. After enquiring at several places, I zeroed in on one particular place called AC team service in T.Nagar. It seems the owner of the place does this as a hobby and the workshop is right below his house.

It's on first come, first serve basis. So, I had to go there by 8.30 in the morning to get the first consultation. Upon inspection, he gave me a quote of 7,500 for the coil change, labour, gas filling, filter change and other related things. I had also asked him to look into the fan motor issue, for which I was given a quote of 2,800 for the motor and 800 for the leaf.

All of the issues were rectified and I picked the car up by 6 in the evening.

The total bill was 11k, savings of about 9k compared to Toyota's quote.

The horn though, I got it replaced with Minda from a shop called Chennai car jewels in Teynampet. I had to part with 1600 for the new pair of horns.

However, I feel the new Minda lacks the shattering blast of my old Hella red grille.

Upgraded the headlamps on my Liva from the already Non stock(100/90w) ones to LEDs.

Ordered the 4300k, 9000 lumens LED lamps on Ali Express' sale last month. Had been eagerly waiting for the package and it finally arrived today. The first thing I did after getting home from office was to get down to business and fix those new shiny LEDs.

Removing the old Halogens and fixing the LEDs is not an easy task on a car with extremely tight space when you have giant hands.

It took me about 30-40mins to do this without any assistance and with one emergency lamp. The DIY might look easy, but certainly prepare to get your hands dirty and brace yourself for some bruised and aches while playing around in such tiny spaces.

The problem right now is that the LED's fan and the Driver don't fit within the dust cover, as a result of which I had let it be. I will be purchasing a bigger dust cover this weekend and getting it fixed asap so that the headlamp doesn't fog up during rains.

The LED doesn't seem to be glaring the oncoming traffic. The beam is more focused towards the left and cuts the glare for the oncoming.

There's a visible difference in the color and brightness. I'll let the pictures do the talking

This is how it arrived

The LED installed completely. Dust cover will never be able to contain that massive fan.

re: The White Knight - My Toyota Etios Liva Diesel. EDIT: 70,000 kms update

Update:

Finally managed to touch the 70,000km mark a couple of days ago!
The progress has been pretty slow ever since 50k, due to the fact that I have not been traveling much due to work :/

Also, I managed to get a decent video of the light throw on the highways.

The vehicles ahead think it is an expensive car and give way, only to realize that it's a hatchback :P

The light is actually much more brighter and sharper in person, for some reason it does not appear so on camera. However, you can see the length of the beam, especially the low beam which is much more longer and wider than halogens.

Thanks to the LEDs, the lens remained cool even after a 160km drive.

Hi, I have an Etios Liva diesel too! 2014 make, so slightly different interior from yours!

Did you ever use synthetic engine oil in your etios Liva? If yes, which grade/brand engine oil did you use?

How was your experience?

I am planning to get the 3M acoustic solution for my 2015 Etios Diesel to better the NVH levels. Anyone has any experience on its effectiveness for Etios do share. Thanks.
