Well, in fact Petrols should be more reliable IMO. But thats a debatable topic.

Coming to the fuel to be used, 328i runs on regular fuel without issues. But i put 97 after every alternate tank fill or sometimes if im passing the 97 bunk i tank it up (Just because i want to not that i have to). In fact the M5 can also run on regular fuel. So dont put down your petrol BMW dreams so soon

Actually, I've had a lot of issues with regular petrol on trackdays, always get drivetrain errors and its because the engine starts knocking badly at high revs. I've switched completely to 97 only now and no problems.

Interestingly i have never faced such issues with regular fuel, but at the same time i haven't had the opportunity to take my 3'er on the track

Had planned a German Car Drive today morning to NH8;



^ The line up from L to R - BMW 530d, Audi A6 3L TDi (R32_GTR), F30 320d (Akki_5), F30 320d (bhp), Octavia 1.8 TSi (vvb8530), A4 3L TDi (Platzdaturbo), 530d M-Sport (kedarwalke), 328i (myself), Laura 2L TDi (lamborghini), F30 320d M-Sport (amit). So out of the 10 cars, 9 were BHPians

My 1st Experience at 3M Car Care;

This is the 1st time i visited 3M Car care & the service described here is a Car Wash (Foam).

Total Charges: Rs 560/-

Total Duration: 1.5 Hours

Total Labour: 2-3 people

The car had been doing a lot of National Highway runs lately and hence i thought to take it to a proper well deserved wash to 3M Car Care.



As you can see the car had a lot of dead flies/insects all over the front;




Even though it is an exterior treatment they do thoroughly do a vacuuming of the interior;



Even the cupholders & other cubby holes;



Boot;

Then the curtains were closed for the high pressure water spray;



It was a Karcher & was simply relentless on the dirt;





3M Soap Concentrate;



The next sight is a joy to behold for any car enthusiast when the foam is being sprayed on to the car;

A lot of scrubbing with the help of a sponge;



Wash again;





The Final Result;




The tar was not completely removed (as you can see around the lower part of the rear bumper) & will need a detailing job post rains;



A Parting Shot;



The boys worked really hard & i was really impressed with the VFM of this wash & i'd like to repeat 2-3 people working on the car continuously for about 1.5 hours & all this for only Rs 560/-

Another positive is that it includes 2 year warranty (also not sure how it will be covered in India)

Though this company is fairly experienced at this (born in 2008) i suggest you can look at options who have been there longer in this business like AC Schitzer or Hartge or even Steinbauer

Ok guys I bit the bullet for the team.

After a lot of deliberation and even more research, I went ahead and procured the RaceChip Ultimate for my 328i. It arrived about two weeks ago but was able to install it only recently.




The install instructions were quite detailed and thus the DIY job was pretty simple.




Double checked all the connections and cranked the engine... Viola no errors on the console. Did the stop-start routine an few times and after confirming that the install was error free , i called it a night.

The next day (early in the morning ) i took her out for a test drive and after an initial warm up, let her rip on the open stretch close to my home. The fear of stray cattle prevented me from doing a proper lead foot drive, but the initial results left me baffled.

She now pulls like a stud on steroids. Boy oh boy, i am floored. My initial observations

1) A definite increase in horse power and low rpm torque
2) improved response on the throttle
3) i am yet to ascertain the improvement in mileage but under normal driving conditions (eco-pro mode) looks like there is marginal improvement in the fuel economy.

I will take her out onto the ORR this sunday and check out the maximum potential of the chip.
