Re: The ULTIMAT3- F30 BMW 328i. EDIT: Upgraded with ///M Exhaust, Injen Intake & Steinbauer Power Mo

Earlier this week had taken the 328i for a worktrip to Pune.

The expressway was pretty empty and was good fun to drive;

1st visit was around Pimpri industrial area, after completing it around 3pm'ish i reached for a late lunch/snack at the famous Wadeshwar in Kalyani Nagar area;

By early evening reached Hyatt regency for a dinner meet;

Left for Mumbai around 8:45 pm & again by the time i reached the Expressway i got a dream run towards Mumbai with very less traffic, was really rewarding

Reached back home in my car park just before 11pm

^ Trip Log.

Was a F-A-S-T drive hence the FE is under 10km/l, 300+ kms Mumbai - Pune - Mumbai with internal city commute & still under 6 hours of engine time.

High Octane !

Since mid last year my car has been running on High Octane Fuel;

- Speed 97 (about 5-6 Tankfulls)
- Power 99 (2 Tankfulls)

The ULTIMAT3- F30 BMW 328i. EDIT: Upgraded with ///M Exhaust, Injen Intake & Steinbauer Power Module-img_20190106_203722.jpg

These fuels surely boosted performance & economy.

BUT, these fuel pumps are not located around my residence & hence its too inconvenient to plan my trip according to refills to maintain continuity.

As previously the car even after the mods was running well on regular fuel hence will be switching back to regular fuel now

Just finished reading the thread.
This would be the second entire thread of yours that I have completed (first being the e46 thread).
The writing style and abundance of photographs and regular updates sure make your threads a really good read.
I must say that both the Bimmers have found a nice and passionate owner and I look forward to all the updates on both of them.

Photographs are always helpful to relate to the post, track the recent activity & keep the interest alive for viewers.

Plus the car is not camera shy

As it was a FAST drive on the expressway then Pune City traffic, driving on state highways etc the FE was under 10km/l.

Re: The ULTIMAT3- F30 BMW 328i. EDIT: Upgraded with ///M Exhaust, Injen Intake & Steinbauer Power Mo

It's been a pleasure to follow this thread. I love the looks of F30 and always wanted to get one which I recently managed to do

Sadly there are very few petrol BMWs on the forum so not much data about them. What has been your experience with service and spares? Oil change service costs, brake disk, pads. What's been the life of pads and disks? Also, how about spark plugs? Have you changed them yet? If so, what's the price?

Thanks!

Average service cost for my 328i has been aprox INR 16k.

Aprox 20k kms for the pads, again depends on the style of driving. Note, im still running on the original brake discs.

YES, aprox INR 1750/Plug check the full report here;

Thanks Karan! I had read and liked that post about spark plugs a while ago and surprisingly forgot!! My bad.

BTW, 17k for servicing and 1750/plug seem pretty reasonable. 20000km for pads is low! How many kilometers have you done so far to be on original discs? Have you taken BSI?

Oh, ok. I see you started the thread in August 2012. So it's been ~5000km a year? You don't seem to be using this car much, do you?

Grab Handle Refurbishment Work at Orchis, Powai;

The sticky grab handles due to rubber melting in our weather conditions is a common issue in the F30 and also other BMW Fxx chassis cars.

It was about time it needed to be addressed and this work was done at Orchis who is one of the best in the business in India & also had some positive experience when they had worked on the interior of my E46;
