Re: Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed

Thank you for updating the thread and all the updates you have done on the car look great and are indeed extremely useful ones. I'm still so amazed by this car - its ride quality, handling, etc as well as the comfort offered by the rear seats (may be not in terms of legroom though). So happy to see you enjoying the car. Wishing you many more miles. I really do wish I could own this beauty sometime

Cheers!

A couple of milestones of the odo in the past 2 months.

Mileage Update
Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed-mileage.jpg

There was one stupid thing done by Aadya motors. When the turbo was replaced, the guy who fixed the hose to the inter-cooler forgot to tighten the bolt of the clamp which was causing a weird ringing noise. This is just carelessness and unacceptable.

Need to open up the gearbox, synchronizer issue as propped up. There is grinding noise when shifting to 3rd from 2nd and 4th. Will be replacing the synchronizers, hub and the sleeve. Just need to find time to get this done.

Re: Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed

Back with an update after a couple of months. Got a bit of work done on the car as preventive maintenance and the synchronizer ring issue resolved at True Sai Motors.

Gearbox down

Gearbox Opened

Rings, Hub and Sleeve that got replaced with new ones

Took this opportunity to get the Flywheel too changed. I did not want the gearbox to be removed for any more clutch work.

Old Flywheel

New Flywheel

New Headlights. I am not happy with the projector installation. I have removed them for the time being, will do redo the installation and get them back on the car. The illumination is too good to be ignored more so without glaring the oncoming traffic.

Also picked up a pair of Hella High beams that come with the Volvo as the stock headlights. I will install these along with the Projectors.

After loads of delay, finally detailed the car over the past 8 odd days and here is the outcome (sample). A separate post will follow on the detailing part.

An update

Milestone - 77,000 kms done and dusted

Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed-77000.jpg

Had been to Madhus for alignment and balancing a day before the trip to Nagarahole in May. However, thing had not gone as planned. There was wobbling around 90 kmph upto 110 kmph mark which was not before balancing. I dropped a whatsapp message to Nikhil and he asked to come back to fix it. I did and it turned out that the wheels were not balanced correctly. Issue was promptly fixed thanks to Nikhil.

The boot mat covering was getting out of shape. I got the plywood planks done to fix this as the boot generally has some or the other heavy stuff in it.

Got the Fastag finally for the car.

Re: Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed

It was over 3 years that the car had seen any kind of proper detailing. Took some time off in April and got the Gyeon Durabead on the car.

Some pictures I took before and after the detailing process.

Got the dash-cam hardwired too with a dedicated cigarette lighter Port and Charger. Puddle lamps, LED boot light and dash cam hard wiring with charger point and charger cost me 3,300 bucks in total.
Hi nkrinshap

Can you please share which shop/garage you got this work done?
I've June-2012 Fiat Linea Emotion that has done 56,000 KMs and I want to do the same upgrades.

Also, I plan to get one dash cam and do the hardwiring.
Your help will be much appreciated!

Last Friday, I messaged my friends that I wanted to drive out. Only of them was free over the weekend and we decided to go Davangere for Benne Dosa.

Kudos to FIAT for showing the 'true' mileage on MID unlike some other brands which always makes an error and for some strange reason, the error is always on the optimistic side as well.

What's the duration after which you are changing this ? ( Both kms as well as time )

The average mileage shown is very close to the tankful to tankful method, subject it is done for a minimum of 200 kms, else the number can vary.

Duration, I cant recollect exactly, but this has done about 5000 kms. The conditions I drive are bit dusty and Bangalore city is no better. I go and change the filter the moment I sense there is a drop in the AC efficiency and has nothing to do with duration or the kms covered. However, with the current rate of running covering 5K kms would have taken around 5 or 6 months.

Yes, that makes sense because for 100 kms, you will be filling only 5 to 6 liters, and even a change of 500 ml due to air in the tank or due to the difference in cut off timings at the pump can lead to 10% variation in mileage calculation.
I was referring to the tank full to tank full after long drives. I have seen quite a bit of exaggeration on these values on other brands.

I would withhold comment about other brands, however My Linea post remap if you drive sedately at 80 kmph you can easily get over 25 kmpl. But the problem is sitting at 80 kmph for long duration, I certainly cannot do that. I am happy with what I am getting right now, so cruising around 100-110 kmph is OK for me and most of the time some or other luggage is there, so add about 50 Kgs of luggage additional all the time. Not to mention, the car is fully damped for ICE and that itself has added a good 25 kgs. Its like carrying 1 additional person all the time.

In a petrol Liva which I owned earlier also gave around 25 kmpl, but I have to certainly agree that it was one of the most boring ever drives I have done.

I was referring to the accuracy of the FIAT MID than the actual mileage itself. And 100 - 110 kmph is a good cruising speed for typical Indian highways.

Agree. The 1.2 L Petrol Liva is one of the most boring cars to drive around. At the same time, the 1.5 L Etios Petrol and 1.4 D-4D are quite involving to drive around as well. And that 25 kmpl mileage looks too good to be true. Maybe, you made your drive even more boring to make it achieve that mileage.

Your car looks as good as new. Our 2009 Punto has done close to 2 lakh kilometers and we find it hard to keep records other than that of maintenance. That said, giving your ownership log a well deserved 5 stars

Please excuse me for slightly off topic inputs :

Next time, try Ravi Benne Dosa Hotel and Old Sagar Benne Dosa Hotel (there are many Sagar Benne Dosa hotels along the road, go to Old one). For location, just Google it

One of the places I frequent a lot. They serve good Holige Oota on Monday

And if you're a Mutton lover, try Naidu Military Hotel (https://goo.gl/maps/fXvoLuFGuJ12) next time. Though they're open everyday, they serve Biriyani only on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday

Hi sir,
I'm quite impressed by the detailing. What're the tariffs for the detailing charge by these folks and is there any way that we can get hold of stuff used in for detailing to do it as a DIY?

Thanks for the reply in advance,
Varun
