Re: Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed

Linea crossed a couple of milestones in March thanks to a couple of highway trips.

Had a word with Rajeev to bump up the power and torque a lil more on the current maps. He is expected in Bangalore sometime this week. Lets see how this turns out.

Re: Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed

Started observing the AC cooling efficiency to be a bit less. Have got my boys to start cleaning the evaporator coil and condensor. Post cleaning will top up the AC gas (if required) and change the AC filter. Things should be back to normalcy.

Off to Mumbai for the day after tomorrow.

Re: Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed

An update after a long gap.

Firstly 110,000 milestone is done and dusted.

Mileage Update

Dent caused by a reversing Maruti Omni into the parked Linea

Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed-dent.jpg

Post the Mumbai drive, the car was very much idle for a few weeks. This gave a chance to the Rats to make the Linea their home. It was stinking to the core when the was used after a gap of almost 6 weeks or so. Rats had ensured they cut only the AC Blower fan wire. Thanks to this, had to strip the dashboard to fix the wiring and clean up the mess caused by the rats.

Used this opportunity to get the leather on the steering wheel replaced as it was showing its age.

Worn Out Leather

Got the Leather cover done by Imperial Leather. Took about 3 hours with a 2500 hole in the wallet.

Post the repairs, had to drive to Sandur where we are doing a small project in the mines to save water. Post the return Journey the car was all dirty with the Iron Ore.

Gave it a thorough wash to ensure the car is spanking clean again. Cleaned the brakes too as it was last cleaned around 101000 kms mark or so.

Need to now get the dent fixed. Planning to do a full body repaint to ensure all the small dents and scratches are fixed. Wont be changing the color, do not want the hassle of updating the RC details.

Re: Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed

Car completed 8 years with 117500 kms on the do. The running has been very little with Lockdown reducing it further.

Renewed the insurance for 6522 /- for the night year, comprehensive policy with 4.5 Lakhs IDV.

Will come up with a detailed post for the experiences through the last few months.

I have been to the mines in Sandur. Did you take the car all the way up to the mines? That's quite difficult terrain, especially for a sedan.

Not all the way, half way to one of the offices. The high ground clearance helps. But the car was super dirty in spite of heavy rains on the way back.

The Fog light assembly and the bezel on the RH side is damaged. Probably a two-wheeler has hit when the car was parked. Needs replacement and will look into it some time soon.

Re: Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed

The odo has slowly creeped past the 122,000 kms mark and currently stands at 1225xx kms.

Mileage Update

Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed-mileage-15.03.2021.jpg

During this lean run period, completed the oil change and the basic service. The rear hub thread got slipped on two bolts during the wheel balancing activity at Madhus (wont blame them as it may have worn out earlier too, just that it happened there). Replaced it with the wheel hub costing 2785 bucks and things are back to normal on the rear wheel front A few tasks pending as below.

1. Front brake pad replacement
2. Front brake disc rotor replacement
3. Steering rack has a mild leakage. Will check if it can be fixed without replacement. There is no change in the way the steering behaves apart from the power-steering fluid going down by 50 to 75 ml over a 1000 kms drive.
4. Driver side door beading needs replacement
5. Need to check all the coil springs for wear and tear. Will replace if necessary
6. Engine B Mount needs replacement
7. Gear shifter has free play. Considering replacing it with a new unit (not just the cables).

Will be keeping this car for a few more years and hence planning a thorough preventive maintenance for the mechanicals. I will have the body repainted too.

Missed the 125,000 kms mark as I am not driving the linea for the past 1.5 months due to a knee surgery.

Re: Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed

Congratulations on achieving such a big milestone.
I am one who is all praise for owners who maintain their cars for well over 10 years; you should target 200,000 km too.
Wishing you speedy recovery and happy motoring.

Re: Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed

The odo stands at 132000 kms. Lost the odo pictures from 126000 to 131000 as the phone got reset and could not recover the pictures.

132000 kms milestone

Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed-132000.jpg

Mileage numbers on the app got lost too. Luckily i had a back with notes. Need to tabulate them back upto date.

The car will complete 10 years this September 1st week and a little over 132000 kms on the odo. The last 4 years has seen only 32K kms and the running is solely on highways. In fact I keep the car idling to ensure the battery does not die down now a days

The car will go through a detailing preventive maintenance starting from tomorrow. A complete repaint too will be done. Now time to procure the long list of sundry parts for the car. More on this as the work begins probably as a separate thread.

A glimpse of what is up with the Linea. A full check and restoration of the car cosmetically and mechanically.

More to come in a separate thread.
