Re: Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed

Update:

The car cross the 80,000 kms mark on the odo after a couple of trips to Nagarahole and Salem.

Added the diesel additive during the last tankful For now the idling is slightly quieter and observing lesser smoke.

Got a set of new rotors and brake pads. Was observing shuddering under braking and the wear warranted a replacement. Since the set is not too costly did not bother taking it to the lathe and skimming it. Got new brake pads as well in spite of the current ones having around 6 to 7 mm of thickness left. Have kept the old set with me as it will used on another car.

Got the rear suspension boot (wick) replaced too as it was torn.

Car had become dirty during the drives in rain. After the clean up.

Mileage Update:

The car needs a clean up with the interiors, will be doing it over the week.

Looking forward for the 6 digit mark on the odo now.

Re: Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed

The car completed 5 years this month on the 4th of September. I have extremely busy and could not keep the thread updated.

Got the insurance renewed for the 6th year from SBI General Insurance for 10,573 bucks with an IDV of 4.6 Lakhs.

Milestones

Mileage Update

Did a few trips in August Thanjavur, Kabini and Muthodi which helped in increasing the odo reading.

A few pictures taken enroute.

Current issue on hand. Slight wobbling during braking. This started post the rotor replacement. I will get this checked along with bearings to ensure things are covered at one shot.

Re: Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed

Hi Krishna,

My Linea Classic Plus came with basic ICE. Is it possible to upgrade so i can have AUX input?

Also, do the rear seats of the Linea Classic Plus fold flat? I tried all possible ways but in vain.

Sorry about the delayed response.

AUX can be added I believe, need to recheck on this.

Linea seats post 2013 models cannot be folded flat. Fiat took this feature off to cut costs (else I do not see any reason why it should be taken off the feature list).

Mileage Update

Issues faced

There was mild wobbling under braking, I was suggested by True Sai Motors to replace the disc rotors and brake pads along with the wheel bearings. I got the work done from them during my visit to Namakkal. However, the work was less than satisfactory. Here is the reason.

Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed-img_20171028_142851.jpg

Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed-img_20171028_162156.jpg

The drive shaft boot got cut which was replaced with an non OEM part by True Sai (it was found out later).

ABS and EBD unavailable error post the bearing replacement, error log from the scanner.

Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed-img_20171111_113936.jpg

Dropped a note to Fiat to get this resolved and I had lost patience to travel to True Sai again to fix this issue. I visited Vecto Motors to get this fixed. In the meanwhile the non OEM boot gave up the ghost, Vecto luckily had the boot in stock and got this replaced. Vecto did not have the driveshaft grease and they had to place an order for the same. Ordinary grease was put in as I told, I will get the drive shaft replaced with a new one and this would be a temporary fix.

Condition of the non OEM boot

Replaced it with OEM

During this work, inspected the anti roll bar and observed that the rubber bushes had cracked and it was causing noise. Check with True Sai (who had already ordered a new drive shaft to have it replaced on my car) if the anti roll bar was in stock. They had the part in stock. Once the driveshaft arrived, asked them to ship both the parts to Bangalore (post the amount deposited in their account). One of their employees got it down to Hosur from where I picked it up and handed it over to Vecto to have it replaced.

Vecto replaced the bearings, drive shaft and anti roll bar.

Now another issue cropped up, wobbling under braking. Thanks to True Sai not replacing the brake pads when the rotors where replaced (under warranty). I got this replaced on Saturday and raised a Part warranty request again for the rotors.

The car was pretty dirty and gave the car a thorough cleaning inside out. The end result.

Re: Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed

Crossed the 90K mark on the odo during the week.

Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed-90000.jpg

It was time to change the air-filter as it had done around 4,000 kms. Sourced the Tata ones which costs around 250 bucks where as the Fiat ones cost 473 bucks per piece while both are essentially the same with Fiat one being the costlier.

Dimensions look different, or is it just the pics?

It is the pics that is creating that image. It was not on the same level. The air-filter fits in perfectly.

On the insurance it is just the comprehensive insurance, not a zero depreciation one.
