Hi Turbanator,

Haven't driven any Fortuner with a suspension upgrade.

Reduced the pressure to 30 ? What were you running earlier ? Because 30 psi is the company specified tyre pressure.

I am running at 1 psi lower than company specified i.e. @ 29 psi, try it im sure will make you feel better

Do post on how this worked.
BTW when you meant rear bench do you mean the second or the third row ?

re: My BRUTE-FORT: Toyota Fortuner 4x4 M/T [Upgraded Brake Booster & A/T Tyres]

The main reason I am not able to convince my friend for the brake booster upgrade is that he doesnt trust the ASC guys.No doubt Toyota service is good but even a small mistake can be prove to be costly. And I have no doubt about this after reading your episode.

His is a june 2011 vehicle.Since he had taken delivery from the godown itself the keeper had kept the car in LL mode in which he drove for more than 100km.After which he noticed that the vehicle is running very rough, then he checked on the internet and found the cause.

And I wont be suprised if there are many more cases.

Be careful.

Also this entire so called mess / non mature attitude of the ASC / fraud has been reported to the concerned people @ Toyota Western region head, hopefully some strict action will be taken against the people involved.
Hi Karan, Great that you put up this report here. It would be of substantial help and service to other Fortuner owners who'll go for the booster upgrade. And to realise that such degree of incompetence is very possible at the ASC !

What stumps me is that the booster upgrade kit comes with the bolt and the FRP bush or spacer among other items with detailed instructions in the manual on how to install/retrofit it. How could they have missed it ? Going by your snaps what they possibly had installed was a Innova booster I think - that doesn't look like the older version of the Fortuner booster either.
Thanks to your feel of the vehicle you were able to detect it. Some of the other owners may be totally unaware of the same.
Well the SOP from my side again. It pays to stand on the shop floor and get the work done !

Will be putting up a link of this report on Admiral's thread for the benefit of all Fortuner owners - with your kind permission !

In fact now is the right time to make him understand of the upgrade as each and every detail is available, right from the part no. to the fitment procedure

It definitely wasn't Innovas booster
But was the same one which came OE with the car but a brand new one.

Surprised to hear about the booster goof-up by the service center.
Sheer laziness and stupidity. Good that you have already escalated the matter.

I got Nitro filled and kept 29 psi in all tyres , results are appreciable , I can immediately feel much planted drive , Nitrogen should cool tyres a bit so even if we are running little under manufacturer's recommendation it should be OK .

By rear bench I meant 2nd ..

re: My BRUTE-FORT: Toyota Fortuner 4x4 M/T [Upgraded Brake Booster & A/T Tyres]

Karan

Read the whole brake booster episode with . In my case almost the same thing happened but the only difference was that i was standing on the shop floor when they declared that it won't fit. I had carried my tab along and there itself i showed them snaps from Guderians thread. Only then they could manage to fit it. They mechs have now acknowledged that this "Saab" knows more about the vehicle than they do.
All i can say about the ASC competence is . There is no alternative of standing on their heads for getting your work done.
Surprised to see brake disc changed. Generaly the pad goes and not the disc.

Yes, it was required.

The latest update is the person who i had complained to had visited this service center and this case was discussed and the people involved were given a good blasting.

Lets hope the less has been learnt & no one else is troubled this way again

Good to know that you are satisfied and that 1 psi less made a difference

There was uneven wear on the disc (because of a possible misfit i suppose) so demanded a replacement.
