re: My BRUTE-FORT: Toyota Fortuner 4x4 M/T [Upgraded Brake Booster & A/T Tyres]

UPDATE 45,000 km service;

The car has been doing a good amount of running around & has zipped to the 45k service.

The service involved nothing major but just the regular inspections, wash, brake front & rear cleaning.

There were some squeaks & rattle sound coming from the seats (middle row) which was complained & that too got taken care off.

Total bill generated was Rs 2124/- only

re: My BRUTE-FORT: Toyota Fortuner 4x4 M/T [Upgraded Brake Booster & A/T Tyres]

Was out for a business & plant visit to Pune for a couple of days.

The car was feeling very fresh & smooth after the service even though not much of things had been done @ 45k servicing. The brakes especially felt a lot crispier thanks to the cleaning done.

Trip Log;

Total Distance covered = 445 kms
FE = 9.5 km/l

Hi Karan

Great crisp report there !

That OTR run was fun. Hope all the guys - venkat, Manish & you got the car underbody properly washed. My car was reeling with muck and once dry it was a real pain to get it off.

I've got a few pics from the run; will upload shortly.

Until the next one..
Cheers.

Service update: 50,000 Kms

The truck just reached 49,7xx km mark & it was sent for an early service of sorts.

This service included Engine oil change, oil & fuel filters were changed too. Other than that the front & rear brakes cleaning also took place with the other regular inspection & service.

The amount charged was Rs 6638/-

re: My BRUTE-FORT: Toyota Fortuner 4x4 M/T [Upgraded Brake Booster & A/T Tyres]

Had organised an all Fortuner "Night" trail drive last weekend, had a good turn out of 6 Fortuners, here are some of the pics;

The trail started from around Lavasa & went upto Lonavla

The drive started at 12 midnight & completed the trail around 3:30 am. Was completely a different experience for the T-FOGGers.

BTW, all cars were BHPians namely;

Monaro_CV8
KedarWalke
bhp!
Venkat_Iyer
Ahmed
& Myself

Easy trail but still can be tricky at night, especially when raining;

re: My BRUTE-FORT: Toyota Fortuner 4x4 M/T [Upgraded Brake Booster & A/T Tyres]

Hi folks, I was reviewing a second hand fortuner (2009/ 4WD/ MT) and have now paid for it. The funny thing on the service record was there were two instances of work on the clutch assembly, once at 38k and again at 51K. From threads, it doesn't seem common.. so took the plunge. But now that I have paid for it, getting jittery. The hypotheses were:

1. Bad driver
2. Galaxy Toyota (Moti Nagar) taking the old owner for a ride.
3. Something seriously wrong with the car.

Now given that its a Toyota and with all your experiences presumed its got nothing to do with 3, but could you please share any thoughts? Hoping that my fear is unfounded.

What do you mean by work done ? Was the clutch & pressure plate changed ? Or just some setting done ? Kindly enlighten.

Also clutch plate wouldnt be too expensive, so even if you have to change it wouldnt cost a bomb like it does in case of Skoda or VAG cars, so relax

Enjoy the Fortuner experience

Thanks for your reply..

so please humour me with a comment..

The description was clutch assembly change, each change costed approx. 15K, there were some 3 components billed including clutch assembly cover and a couple more I don't remember.. its not a bomb.. but just getting jittery I guess..

Hi k!ng_@thur,
Walked into this conversation late...
Normally clutch assembly (clutch plate) lasts for about 1L+ KMs if driven well. If the clutch assembly has been changed twice in less than 60K KMs then it means that the Fortuner was driven very badly indeed. If so then you need to check a few more things - brakes, suspension condition and obviously the tyres. Besides also check whether the vehicle was involved in any serious accident/s.
Most likely could be a case of multiple driver run vehicle. Politico owned ?
Now that you have already paid up for it etc - be mentally prepared for surprises in the form of some of the components mentioned above giving up soon. This I state inspite of the fact the Fortuner is a rather abuse friendly vehicle.
All the best.

The clutch plates don't cost a lot. So if you have an issue you can change it. If you have spent lakhs buying the Fortuner then a mere 15,000 won't pinch you. But you need to be carefull about the flywheel condition. A new flywheel for my Innova cost around 40,000. So it will be a bit costlier for the Fortuner. However the flywheels don't give way so easily. I'm still on stock flywheel with around 1,40,000km on my 2010 Innova.
