Re: My 'Luv' - Maruti Ertiga Zdi. 17,000 kms & counting

Rajain,

Great review ! Enjoyed reading it, however could you update us with the costs of service ? Running items like, oil filter, fuel filter, brake pads if you have changed ? The reason is we are planning to get one soon, like in the next two weeks or so and I want to be aware of the costs involved.

Reason for brake pads is that our driver drives teh car most of the time and although he is well trained, appears to go through brake pads in every 30k kms on our existing Fabia, which are a bomb to replace !

Thanks in advance.

Yes I certainly can. And I should have done so earlier. I had 3 free services. The consumables though did had to be paid. The paid service was at 16,500 kms. This was ahead of the schedule since I had a long distance drive coming up. The larger of the expenditure in the service was of engine oil (Castrol Edge). I will upload a scanned copy of the reciept.

I have so far done approx 23k and have not had a chance to replace anything. I would imagine the cost won't be high. Spares are low cost for most Maruti vehicles.

Do you have an Ertiga? I have not heard of other Ertiga owners needing this change so soon. I have also done almost 23k and not needed to change it. I don't know the schedule of change. Something worth finding out.

Cheers

Hi Rajain,

Yes i have a Ertiga VDI which is about 11 months old and run around 21k kms.
Around 1.5k kms back the left brake pads started to make sound.

So during the 20k service asked the price of the brake pads to replace, they quoted 3.3k, enquired in outside market the TVS brake pads are not available in open market. but TNG brake pads where available at 700rs, then just enquired around and got Brembo brake pads at 2.9k

Both factors sound fishy! First of all, why would an Ertiga's brake pads cost a 3.3K ? Swift had the most expensive pads (3.3K) in the entire Maruti line up and they later revised it to 1.8K (SGP --> MGP).

20K is way too early for a pad change. These should easily last 30-35K before it needs a change. Are you sure they haven't fooled you? Did you check the condition of the removed brake pads?

Between, please do give us a review of the brembo brakes. I guess for the first 500-1000 kms, no hard / heavy breaking is advised so that the pads run in properly.

The cost of brake pads was given to me by the service centre, i also verified the cost in the open market which was similar.

The brake pads were almost worn out, the metal indicator was touching the disks and making sound. So had to change the brake pads.

Still not noticed any major difference in braking from the brembo pads.

Brembo brake pads are available in our classified section. Did you buy it from there.

Rajain - how much did it cost to get the charging point in the third row. Kindly suggest.

Kailash

Thanks, Rajain

@reddy6980,

Thanks for the input. I was wanting to know the prices as our driver drives the car and they are usually a careless bunch; no matter how much sense you drill into them. This 3.3k figure includes labour charges as well ?

Wow, that's a lot. I paid 1300 rupees for my Swift Diesels brake pad change a year back, yes at an authorized service station Din't think the price between the two would be this different.

Yes, got the pads from the T BHP classifieds.

3.3k doesn't include the labour charges.

Hi Kailash

The charge point - labour and material was all of 250 rs. Wonder why they had not thought of giving one or two extra.

Most of us are carrying cameras, phones, laptops, GPS units, tablets etc. On a long drive my vehicle invariably has something or the other getting charged.

Cheers

Re: My 'Luv' - Maruti Ertiga Zdi. 17,000 kms & counting

Hi

It had been some weeks since I had a drive out.

A few colleagues were getting together for an outstation travel and the choices of destination were Kabini/K Gudi/Bandipur. I had only been to Bandipur prior.

Delay in arrangements meant the group had to split for rooms at K Gudi and Bandipur. Jungle Lodges has never failed. The route decided was Shivasamudram - BR Hills - K Gudi - Bandipur and back. Its a short drive of 4-5 hours and a weekend was good enough.

Three vehicles and a total of seven individuals travelled out a couple of weekends ago. The first stop was breakfast at Kamat on the Mysore road. This is a good place and the breakfast spread certainly impressed. I had not stopped at Kamat in my multiple visits on this highway prior.

We soon left the highway and headed towards Shivasamudram.

On the way we came across a few water bodies.

Approx 140 kms and within 2.5 hrs from Bangalore one comes across the Shivasamudram falls. These are really beautiful falls. Approx 320 feet of waterfall. Way back in 1902 a hydropower station was constructed here.

We did not disturb him having his sugarcane

After spending about 45 minutes here we moved towards BR Hills (Biligiriranga Hills). BR Hills is a forest area and the BRT Wildlife Sanctury is located here. The drive is the more amazing part. More than 40 kms through forest and hills. These are some really remote areas as well. The route we took was Bangalore – Mysore highway til Maddur. We turned left after leaving Maddur and drove till Kollegal town via Malavalli. BR Hills is another half an hour drive from Kollegal.

Some pictures of the drive through the picturesque BR Hills -

Did we get to see His Highness? Stay tuned for more from BR Hills to Bandipur.

Cheers
