I would seriously recommend getting a new air compressor/inflator. The Michelins are good.

At the cost of repetition: a blown fuse is a warning of a circuit overload and more so if it happens multiple times. Please don't take risks with the wiring. It can have unintended consequences.

The Etios feels old & outdated today, but the 1.5L variant is still the most fun-to-drive car in that segment. The handling is the most neutral in the segment, and that 1.5L has excellent torque. I fondly remember my first drive in the car on my favourite Mumbai - Nashik highway
It is a superb vehicle. I drove one recently and it re-kindled memories of the previous generation Baleno.

Shod it with decent Alloys and some good leather seats(covers etc) and I think the car can look much better than in stock form. I may have already decided which my next car might be (though there is time for that still or unless something like the Vios changes my mind).

I even have a solution to the empty space in front of the steering. Fit a aftermarket GPS device etc there. Below is example from my car.

Point taken sir. Thank you. Will leave the Emporis in the trunk as a last option spare and will use the Resqtech going forward. If the neighbors complain of the noise I will go in for the Michelin.

Etios turns 6 with around 73,000 km on the odometer.

Today is the 6th birthday of our Etios. The birthday gift from us was a 6th year bumper to bumper, zero depreciation insurance from ICICI Lombard. As we used b2b insurance from ICICI Lombard from the very first year, they are giving their regular customers an additional offer so we can get zero depreciation insurance till the 8th year. Normally insurance companies give zero depreciation insurance for the first 5 years.

Regarding the car, its performing flawlessly. No rattles, stock clutch is still holding up pretty well. Over all no regrets for the past 6 years. Etios exceeded our expectations and we are really happy to own it. If i need to buy a petrol sedan yet again at this moment, i will again go for the new Etios though its somewhat outdated now but i cant ignore the positives of this car.

This was my update a year back-

What is the experience with using petrol additives or premium petrol in the Etios?

75,500 km Update

Had been to two consecutive drives to Odisha last month. One was to Simlipal which was a 700 km trip followed by a trip to Puri which was around 1200 km.

Car performed flawlessly in both the trips. For the Simlipal trip the occupants were me and my wife with less luggage, where as for the Puri trip it was me, my wife and my parents. So 4 of us with boot full of luggage. The agility and the fuel efficiency i got in the Simlipal trip dropped a bit in the Puri trip. Even with some spirited driving car returned a mileage of 14 in the Simlipal trip where as with same kind of spirited driving in the Puri trip the mileage was down to 12.3 while going. While returning, i drove in a much sedate way and never crossed 120km/hr. So on the return leg the mileage was 16+ km/L. All the figures were with 100% A/C.

Few observations-
The stock clutch is still holding well.
No rattles yet.
Top speed of the car is same as before.
The A/c cooling is good with no complaints.
The Yokohama Earth1 tyres are holding up well even after 32,000km usage.

A pic for ref-

As of now there are no negatives to write about apart from one.
There is a slight vibration felt on the steering wheel at a particular speed. Will get the tyres, alignment and balancing checked soon. Last time these were done at 50,000km and now the odo is at 75,500km.

So as of now the 'fill it, shut it, forget it' saga continues.

Few pics from both the trips-

re: Toyota Etios 1.5L Petrol : An owner's point of view. EDIT: 10+ years and 100,000+ kms up!

10000 kms update of the new Etios Platinum Petrol V

Just had my car serviced for 10000 km at Galaxy Toyota, B-243, Okhla Phase I, New Delhi.

As usual it was just a regular service - no problems till now. The cost was 1450/- (including GST) but since I've taken the Smiles pack (3500/- valid upto 20000 km) I did not pay anything.

Minor points:
1. Slight squeaking sound coming from the brakes (I think front) after the car has been parked for a few days just when I start off. There is no sound when driving and applying brakes. SA said this is normal - any comments from experts would be welcome.

2. When the air vent is on the top mode (on face) there is slight leakage of air from the foot side. Again the SA says this is normal!!

This time the experience at Galaxy Toyota was not good and I had to bring the GM into the picture because the Service Advisor was not at all communicative and responsive to my questions. Even though I had booked an Express Service it took 3 hrs to get my car out.

The car is driving very well. FE is in the range of 13-16 kmpl in city with AC and on highways it is between 16-20 kmpl with AC. It climbs effortlessly on poor mountain roads and on highways its a breeze.

That's just rust on the brake disks. Happens to most cars in the monsoon. Quite normal, as your SA said.

Its winter again and fog and smog are back in Delhi and North India. I managed without them last year, but feel they would be a good addition for safety in foggy conditions. Any recommendations for good fog lamps for the Etios.

As per Samba the company fitted fog lamps on his Etios is not very effective.
In my Swift I too had an OEM set up which I felt to be underpowered. So later I shifted to the below set up and I am satisfied with the output.
Fog lamps set up for my Swift Vxi is as follow -
Changed stock fog lamps of Swift Vxi and upgraded to Hella 60Mm Module High Beam
Else you can look for Cree led fog lamp set ups too.

1. Are these really for use in fog? (normally fog lamps are low beam and have a wide spread)
2. Will these fit the Etios? Or are fog lamp sockets same size for most cars?
3. My car is under warranty. How will these be installed so that the warranty does not get affected?
4. What will be load on the battery? Power consumption mentioned on Hella website is 65 watts.

Sorry for my late reply.
1. Yes, since these fog lamps are projector type, it works fine in fog. The throw is very intense.
2. These fog lamps are not car specific. These are universal fitment for all cars .Slight modification like adding a bracket might be needed.
3. My car is also under extended warranty, so the lights are fitted by punching the wires, not cutting the wires.
4. My car is showing perfect battery reading.

Has anyone tried installing a rear fog light (for others to see - not to blind them) in the blank of the 2nd reversing light of the Etios?

re: Toyota Etios 1.5L Petrol : An owner's point of view. EDIT: 10+ years and 100,000+ kms up!

2017 ends with 77,555 km on the odometer

The update as of now is, there is no update!

Car is running absolutely fine. Its totally 'Fill it, shut it & forget it' as of now!
Now in winters am getting a mileage of 14+ /L (Non A/C) inside city with bumper to bumper traffic, which i feel is too good for a 1.5L petrol.

I have not seen any modification like that in any Etios yet. I will say its better not to put a rear fog lamp over there, as it should be centrally positioned. You can look out for some red led strips with low wattage which can be attached to the center of your car's rear bumper and wont blind the driver driving behind you either.

Something like this-
Pasting the link just for an example - https://www.banggood.com/Pair-LED-Br...r_warehouse=CN

re: Toyota Etios 1.5L Petrol : An owner's point of view. EDIT: 10+ years and 100,000+ kms up!

Update at 79,000km

The only update is- The car is getting better day by day!

During the winter i enjoyed a whopping fuel efficiency of 17+ on highways and around 14 in city!

Car is absolutely niggle free and i have nothing to update.

Off-late the running of this car has gone down as our Figo diesel is used more as our daily drive car for its diesel economy.

By April end or May 1st week the 80,000km service is due.

Works to be done-

Replace engine oil (full synthetic) & oil filter (Recommended change is at 10k interval)
Replace brake oil. (Recommended change is at 40k interval)
Replace Air filter. (Recommended change is at 40k interval)
Replace spark plugs. (Recommended change is at 20k interval)

Checkups to be done for -
Clutch (Still the car is running on stock clutch plate)
All the belts
Any leakage from any shock absorbers.

The paint is still stock and its holding up like new!
Just a wash and it shines! Till date no polish or any paint care treatment have been applied.

A couple of pics of my 6 years 9 months & 79,000 kms young Etios-
