Hey,

What is the general life of brake pads on your car, mine is wearing out every 25k KMS+, I previously owned a Santro and never had to replace it over 80k life. Below is the schedule with my Sail Sedan.

1st replacement: 28k
2nd replacement: 48k

The car is currently at 58k on the ODO.

Thanks
GE.

73,000 kms is when I replaced the brake pads.
I would like to add that I don't encounter a lot of traffic in my route and rarely use the brakes. I rely on only engine braking for shedding speed.

BBLost's Chevrolet Sail UVA: 100k. Full Suspension Overhaul.-apt.jpg

Needed a new set of wipers for the car.

Took it to the new Chevrolet Authorized Service center, which is also an independent garage.

It is a decent place with a lot of workers in it.
I will mostly go back to them next week to replace my clutch cable as its gone a little hard.
Car has crossed 80,000 kms and feels like its good for another 40,000 at the very least.

re: BBLost's Chevrolet Sail UVA: 100k. Full Suspension Overhaul.

With Covid19 playing havoc with all plans my car service had gotten seriously delayed.

So took her to the Authorized center after more than 2 years and 12,000 kilometers.
Waited in the lobby for the car to be serviced.

Car is fine and there was an ECM update as well.
No issues. Just needed fresh oils.

Car is now at 85,000 kilometers.

Did you upgrade your Spark Plugs for Sail UVA? If so, could you please share model number and your experience.

I own a Sail UVA 1.2 Petrol and is due for spark plug change. There are lot of mixed reviews about Iridium spark plugs. Hence, wanted to check your opinion with respect to Sail UVA.

Nope. I never bothered to do any performance upgrades of any sort. This is a basic car and it does not really need anything "special". All it needs is fresh oil once in a while and bit of TLC (Tender, Loving Care).

re: BBLost's Chevrolet Sail UVA: 100k. Full Suspension Overhaul.

With the car crossing 95,000 kilometers, got it serviced at APT Chevrolet in Hafeezpet.

Mr. Khaja is an absolute sweetheart in the way he got everything completed and done in time. I reached the workshop at around 930 AM. Left the car and went to my office.
Came back at around 5.

Car was super clean.
The front power window regulator, which I procured from Boodmo, was installed.

The car has a couple of issues that will be addressed before the end of this month.

1. TENSIONER Drive.
2. Front Suspension.
3. Front Disc and Pads.

Order placed with Chevy and will get this done. Expecting the total to get to around 25k.

According to the mechanics, the car is absolutely fine and I can be completely relaxed for the next next 50k kms.

I don't think I will sell this car this year or the next.

re: BBLost's Chevrolet Sail UVA: 100k. Full Suspension Overhaul.

My car crossed into the 1,00,000 today while driving back to Hyderabad from Chennai.

Reliable and a pleasure to drive.
Mileage was approximately 15 kmpl.

The Suspension

The car is around 105,000 kms.

The engine is good, the body is decent but the suspension was shot. Crossing rumbling strips felt like participating in a dance competition.

The windscreen had a crack as well.

I was in two minds of changing the car or getting this one fixed.

When I saw the prices of new cars, I realized that there is nothing under 20 lakhs that is even barely interesting.

The cost of overhauling this one was going to be around 70k.

So I did just that.

Total bill for all the parts, service, oil changes etc came to little over 71,000

But the car feels as good as new.

There are some minor cosmetic fixes it needs but these are not an issue for me.

I do plan on getting new seat covers someday.

That's a princely sum for a 10 yr old car. But then, that's less than 2 month's EMI for a new car. Mechanically fit and feeling new, this will keep you happy for few more years.

When you feel unhappy, change the seat covers and stitch a new leather steering wheel cover.

Re: BBLost's Chevrolet Sail UVA: 100k. Full Suspension Overhaul.

Looks good. Get seat covers changed at your option, I did the same a ~8-9 years into ownership.

Decision makes absolute sense. I have a very well maintained Linea MJD. Due to age, there are obvious upkeep costs to take care of any signs of ageing. But there's no replacement within 15L that feels even equivalent to this car. Its well built and the design doesn't feel dated by any angle.

Just soČ many memories attached with it that unless there's any insane NGT ruling (like in the NCR), damn well this car stays.

The Stuff that cost about a 1000 rupees or more:
  • Windscreen and Sealant.
  • Absorber ASM LH and RH
  • Dampenenar RR Suspension Strut.
  • Mount ASM FRT Suspension Strut.
  • Bearing ASM FRT Suspension Strut.
  • ARM FRT LWR Cont LH and RH.
  • Link ASM FRT Stab SHF.
  • Bearing Front Wheel.
  • Starter Motor Overhauled.

Also got new engine oil, power steering oil, Brake oil etc.

The car used to give a rough noise on cold start. This is fully gone. Starting is very smooth now.

Yesterday I drove back home using the Service Road of the Hyderabad ORR. The speedrakers are so much easier to handle. The super good thing however is the almost negligible impact of those white thin rumblers they are putting all over the new flyovers.

Car feels very nice.
