The squeak has disappeared.
I don't know where its gone, but its not coming now.

When car goes for regular service sometime in Feb. I will have them check the dashboard and the rev issue.

The car is behaving perfectly fine on my regular commute and it gotten smoother with the approaching 5k mark.

On a sad note, I seem to have taken fancy to Lady Gaga's voice. While the car stock ice was more than adequate for Ghulam Ali, Gaga's music sounds horrible in it.
I think an upgrade would be nice but I hate spending money.

I am not sure but I suspect that it is coming from the stick which is used when the hood is opened (dont know what is it called as) unlike other cars Sail has it on the hood body itself.

Re: BBLost's Chevrolet Sail UVA: First 1,000 kms weekend trip done.

New cars do not necessarily come with a PUC certificate and his timeframe is more or less correct i believe , however if you are stressed about it the best move is to simply go get one , it costs next to nothing.

I have two question for you.

1. My dealer has charged me around 7500/- extra towards the registration and also given me a official receipt saying RTO charges. My question is this a standard practice across all Chevy dealers?

2. My dealer hasnt given any original PUC certificate stating that new cars dont need any PUC for first 6 months. The law is not stated very clearly on RTO website as well. Does anybody know the exact interpretation? BTW T-Bhp check list says original PUC to be given by dealer which is valid for one year.

re: BBLost's Chevrolet Sail UVA: 100k. Full Suspension Overhaul.

I finally took my car to the service center. No prior appointment.

Also needed to buy Extended Warranty. The price for this has been reduced. I paid 5175 for the fourth and fifth year of ownership. So my car is now covered till 2018.

Also had the idling issue looked at.
The SA was very patient and listened to it all. He also allowed me to watch my car.
They disconnected the air filter and opened the throttle body. Then removed a thick pin which is the idle air control valve stepper motor pin. (Thanks Viddy for letting me know its right name.)

The pin was greyish in color. They took it inside and cleaned it up. When it came back it was shiny black. They also sprayed a carb cleaner and cleaned the throttle body.

Once everything was fixed back, the SA and I went on a 4 km long test drive. He drove at less than 40 kmph. I drove back as I normally do.
The car felt a little more responsive. The cloth they used to clean that pin was indeed very dirty. So maybe this was the issue.

I will keep this thread updated on how it goes.

The car is at about 5,000 kms in its 118 days of ownership.

During the test drive the SA mentioned that there is more noise than normal from the door panels. I had not really caught this till then. He said he can either fix it now or we can wait till first service.

I really liked the way the service center behaved with me. I did not even have an appointment. In fact it was only at the very end of the EW documentation that they even asked my name.

Also found an interesting information. Since the car is registered in my wife's name, I can avail of their free pickup and drop facility. Sweet.

Extra service for women? Or because you aren't the owner?

re: BBLost's Chevrolet Sail UVA: 100k. Full Suspension Overhaul.

I drove 150 kms since the throttle cleaning. Of which 40 were in the kind of traffic that used to cause the rpm' to jump.

See I used a past tense.
Hope the issue never comes back.

re: BBLost's Chevrolet Sail UVA: 100k. Full Suspension Overhaul.

The car was quite dirty. So took her to a car wash in Gachibowli, Hyderabad.
A very interesting car wash. Its semi automated.

The pictures would explain how it works.
Rs 350 for vacuuming the interiors and washing the exteriors.

That indeed is a nice facility and the price is reasonable. How is the workmanship?

Is the Rs 350 coming for all hatches?

Anurag.

There is another more tradition wash facility on the same road.
Both of these are between Kothaguda Junction and Gachibowli Flyover.

They both charge Rs 350 for the vacuum and wash for my car.

In terms of quality of workmanship they are more or less equal.
No swivel marks and no new stains.

But between the two I prefer the traditional wash guy. They spent just a little time more on the glasses and the interiors. The even cleaned the door pockets. Which this place had failed to do.
However if I had a dirty underbody, then this is the place to goto.

But its a minor thing that can be easily taken care of the next time.

Washway.

I remembered that I had a picture of the washing stored on my phone.

These guys did a much better with the glass. It was clean with no towel marks on them. I would recommend these guys over the semi-automatic wash place as long as the objective is body wash rather than a underbody wash.

re: BBLost's Chevrolet Sail UVA: 100k. Full Suspension Overhaul.

Since the car was clean and I had some time decided to wax it.

I parked in some open spot and as I exited it found something shiny stuck on the front tires treads.

It was a screw. Removed it using a screw driver and it was almost an inch long.

Swapped the wheel with the spare and took these pics.

The alloys had "made in china" embossed on them.
The jack is quite decent and the whole exercise took less than 10 minutes.

However getting the spare wheel out of the boot was easier in my Wagon R.

As I was removing the wheel a cab driver started to chit chat with me. He advised that I should have just left the screw inside. I think that is the wrong advice. What do you think?

If the screw had penetrated completely then you would experience air loss immediately. Did you experience that?

Air loss started after I removed the screw.
